Does anybody know if it's possible to do this? Here's the skinny. We recently took the kids to Walt Disney World over Christmas. I DV'd the trip and am editing the movie now. I normally used the default MPEGS offered by Pinnacle to create my opening scenes, [ie. a xxxx feature presentation, and xxxxx film studio's presents etc.] My parents seem to love this stuff when I make it like a real movie. Anyhow, I ripped the opening from a disney movie to mpeg and would like to add my own verbiage where it says "Walt Disney". In effect removing the walt disney verbiage and entering my own into the mpeg. Does anybody know how and what utilties to use? I've seen all kinds of clips on the internet where people have done it, just want to know how. Thanks all, I appreciate everyone's expertise!
hi not to sure what ya mean? but.... i would get the dvd film and use start/end cut in dvd shrink to get the bit you want then load the VIDEO_TS folder to TMPGenc DVD Author and then load the mpeg2 (dvd compliant of course) then output as vobs/ifo/bup DVD files and burn
Yeh, I figured I was pretty vague. I'll give it another shot. I've already taken the clip from the dvd using "Super Video Converter. I imported VTS_01_1.VOB and started the convert process and simply stopped it right after the opening. The clip is now a 22 meg MPEG II file, . It's the opening after all of the trailers and crap. Right before the movie starts. It's just a blue screen, then the castle appears and a horshoe type star and trail goes over the castle. Underneath, it says "Walt Disney". I want to be able to open this newly created mpeg in whatever software is needed and be able to remove "Walt Disney" verbiage and enter in my own name. Then resave as the new mpeg file with my name in it instead of Walt Disney. I can then add this clip into my movie line as the opening to our trip to Disney World with some kind of smooth transition fading right into the movie. I'm using Pinnacle Studio. Don't know if you are familiar with it. I tried to take the clip and cut it down to 1 second intervals to remove the Walt Disney verbiage. Unless I'm not doing something right, Pinnacle doesn't support editing mpeg's unless you use an overlay. if I use the overlay, it looks all crappy because you can still see the Walt Disney verbiage behind my name. Just curious rp_024, does the "Walt Disney" section of the image, which you're trying to replace, move around or change size as the clip progresses? Or does it stay in one place for the duration of the clip? If it remains unchanged for the duration of the clip it should be easy enough to overlay another image on top of it. I've never used Pinnacle Studio so I don't know what went wrong when you tried an overlay there. But in Virtualdubmod you can use the Logo filter to overlay an image. It will completely block out what was there before.
It actually moves. The castle and Walt Disney fade in, then the star shoots from one side over the castle to the other side. I'll give the proggy a try though. I wish it were as easy as a simple overlay, I tried that until my fingers blead, then gave up. Thanks for other option though. I'll see what that does. Thanks
Well if you take the Video and Turn it into a still Image then it would be a Lot easier to use something like "PhotoShop" to add your own Text over the original Text.....
I wish it were as easy as editing with a photo editing utility. Unfortunately that isn't an option as changing an mpeg to a jpeg image gives you a hairline thin picture. It's real hard to stay within the lines.
It is easy to save a frame of a Mpeg file into a Jpg or BMP Image... Media players Like "PowerDVD" and "WinDVD" have a Frame Capture feature or what i do is use "Tmpgenc" and Load in my File and go to the "Source Range" setting and select the Frame I want to save as a Image and then I go to "file" to "Output to "to "BMP/JPG/TIPP/ect image Sequence" and then select the File type and File name and it will save the Frame you selected as a JPG image.... You can also use "Virtual-Dub-Mpeg-2" to Copy any Frame to your Clipboard and then Paste the Image into MS Paint or Photoshop and save it as a JPG... Cheers
