    Hello,
I'm looking for something that will allow me to visually add chapter points to a DVD.
I use a LiteOn set top DVD recorder to copy my personal VHS tapes to DVD. I would then like to put the DVD files on my computer and manually add chapter points to the DVD file so that I can then burn the edited DVD to a final disk.

Is this possible? Where do the chapter points exist in a DVD file structure?

I know I could probably do it with DVD-Lab, but I think that will require re-encoding which is something I'd like to avoid.

Does anyone have a link to a good webpage that explains the DVD file structure?
And, while we're here... What's the deal with DVD+VR? Yeah, I figured out how to convert it, (I think)... but, why does no DVD software recognize it? My PowerDVD won't play it and my Windows Media Player won't play it. Is this something that will eventually gain acceptance and compatability or am I doomed to have to convert every single DVD my LiteOn DVD recorder makes?

    Thanks guys!

You can add chapter points manually or increment by time.
I use Tsunami DVD Author Pro, which can also import those pesky VR files from disk. It's made by the same company shown in the link and is available for 30 day tryout.
Your DVD recorder is adding chapter points, probably at five minute intervals, but I wouldn't state that it is also the case with all recorders.

This link talks about dvd file structure.

My older Pioneer recorder gives a choice of recording in Video or VR mode. I record in Video mode which produces standard VIDEO_TS folders. These are easily imported into NeroVision Express for clean up, chapters, menus etc. With Smart Encoding enabled, there is no re-encoding. NVE will also import VR (.VRO) files but I don't know if it will re-encde those as I alway use Video mode.
