Can someone tell me what software I would need to edit out commercials that are with-in a movie stream that was recorded off TV? I can strip the front and back sides with DVD Shrink, but not those in between. Please reply to me at:schad@rap.midco.net

If its mpeg you could easily do this with TMPGEnc, by using the MPEG tools. Go to the merge and cut option, once your there open up your movie and select the first part up to the ads, export it, then select after the ads up to the next ads, export and so on and so on. Then go back into the merge and cut and add in all the files and merge them together.

PS Read the rules cant post your email, i replied to it here just in case someone else relates into your problem so they can solve it without posting.

You can use DVD Shrink to edit the entire program ...

correct me if im wrong but is this how you would do it with dvd shrink catfreak...

Do a ReAuthor, drag your movie across, set the start and end frames up to where you want, then drag it across again go ahead of the ads and thus do again what i just said. Which would be quite good because then you have a chapter skip as well :)

Dude, you got it ... It works very well except that, on some players, you gat a momentary pause where the commercial used to be. What I do is before I burn the edited result, I run the resulting program through NeroVisionExpress and create menus ... this way I can access 4-6 programs on a disc instantly ... and it eliminates any pauses during any individual program ...

So by having each one as a title instead of a chapter they change faster? Just trying to get to make sense in my head so please bear with me :)

I suppose ... Let me explain further ... When you edit commercials with DVD Shrink, you create several titles out of a single Tv program ... For example: a half hour show with three commercial breaks after editing becomes four Tv shows. When I use NeroVisionExpress, I can merge those four titles into one and the DVD player recognizes it as such ... If I only burn the Shrink files, the player sees four titles. Usually I put 4-6 half hour programs on a DVD and create a menu so I can access each program ... otherwise the DVD plays like a VHS tape ...
