Hi, Have just installed a dvd burner, so I am new to the world of dvd copying. Two questions... What would people recommend as the best program combination for simple backup copies of movies? I have waded through heaps of information on the site, but I haven't found a simple: "use this and this". All I want to do is take a dvd 9 movie, strip the extra features and extra audio tracks, and burn it onto a 4.7 GB dvd disc. I have windows XP - would "dvd shrink" be best or something else? Second question.... I have a favourite music dvd, which has an incredibly annoying host presenting the band at the start and end. Furthermore, there is some talking in between tracks, but the singer is sitting further from the mic, so it's really quiet. What I would like to do is edit the start and end to get rid of the presenter, and also increase the volume in the certain talking parts. Is this impossible? I thought along the lines of "normalizing" the audio like you can do with cd's, but would this affect the overall sound of the band? If anyone can recommend me a program with the capability to make these changes, it is hugely appreciated. P.S. I'm looking for freeware or shareware programs as I'm a poor student!!! Cheers
There a several guides here for backing up DVDs you own that use a variety of programs. http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/guides.htm Personally, I think using a commercial program, AnyDVD, in the background for decryption and overcoming copy protection is the way to go. You can then use two free programs, DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter for reauthoring your DVDs and burning. AnyDVD does have a free trial. It also has lifetime free updates.
