Okay,Im totally newbie. I downloaded 2 movies, "the Grudge & MI3" to divX files & they play fine, on any players on the PC. I wanna watch em on TV, not the PC.Im trying to download em to a DVD+R to play on my Magnavox DVD player playing in MPEG2. Ive used WinAviConverter & ConvertXtoDVD to change these DivX flix to MPEG or DVD. I get the 2 DVD_0 folders, Audio & Video, Video has all kinds of info in it, Audio is empty. First...is that correct., lots in one, empty in other? Then I try burning em to a DVD+R with Nero,Sonic,Windows Player, Rio AudioCentral & other burn programs., they either abort the mission very quickly usually with the DVD seemingly untouched OR finish & cant play on the DVD player OR voice is totally frigged up with Pic okay. What am I doing wrong. Its exasperating, please help!!!!!
First up you must be sure that your DVD player will accept the format you are converting to. If you use ConvertX then just burn the files with that prog...all in 1 process. @dialysis1, How does that help with the problem?
@dialysis1, For your information there are a number of sites that you can [bold]LEGALLY[/bold] download movies from so I cannot understand your response.
I won't be much help here, I'm afraid. First, it is correct that the AUDIO_TS folder is empty and the VIDEO_TS folder has all the info. Can you play the converted video in the VTS on your pc; there should be several in the VIDEO_TS folder and that is your movie? Both WinAvi or VSO allow you to burn a project using Nero or their own burning engine; just keep burn speeds around 4x. But, that isn't an issue when they won't even burn. Again, do the converted files play on your pc and what media do you use as it can cause problems? Also, the name of your movies isn't necessary as downloading copyrighted files is kind of frowned upon here.
What do I know.... thats why Im a NEWBIE. If I knew everything I wouldnt ask anybody or be here, Hey Mr.Dialysis1, im only here to inquire, not have myself ridiculed. I just discovered you could download movies, didnt know nothing about it before my discovery. I know about Napster & the laws causing people to be sued over copyright rules. Is it okay if I just learn what to do? I promise not to steal somebody's glory, thunder or money. I also promise never to reveal EVER AGAIN, what I might be downloading to DVD. Honest, my right hand's up. Now take your Bart Simpson ass & be gone. Thank you Gwendolin & mistycat.
Unfortunately there are some members(a minority) who think they are moderators and make such comments. @dialysis1, You are NOT are mod so therefore you should leave it up to them to decide if fufnik has breached any AD forum rules...I doubt that he has. @fufnik, Hope we can solve your problem, Cheers.
to mistycat: I have two IFO files in the Video_TS folder, that show the movies, 2 BUP files, 3 other VOB files that show some instructions. The films come thru via WinDVD which I have installed, I am using DVD+R by Maxell, single layer etc attempting to burn.
Don't quote me on this as I am not a "media expert" but Maxell made in Japan are good but those made in Taiwan aren't. A good rule of thumb is any brand made in Japan is good while those made in Taiwan aren't except for Verbatim. The 2 most reccomended brands are Taiyo Yuden followed closely by Verbatim. The VOB files are converted video and within the the VTS, I think. Not to confuse the issue but I only ever author mpg (to VOB and to DVD) and never see any VOB's but those are your converted movie.
It's right. After convert to DVD,it always give you two folders: AUDIO_TS (empty),VIDEO_TS(with .vob,.ifo,.bup).For burn to disc, you only need to select VIDEO_TS,that's ok. And i recommend you play the converted file on your pc before burn to see if it correct.
use convertxtodvd, set the encoding to high quality mode.process the output files with dvd shrink.shrink will create an iso image of your files that will play in most dvd players.if you have the latest version of imageburn it can also create an iso image from convertxtodvd's output files.
