I used to have a Yamada mx-105, but somehow i broke it and now it cant read any discs at all, not even the firware disc or a lens cleaner...

So recently i bought this player instead the ELTAX DV-251...
Does anybody know if there are any Firmware updates available for this?

So far playback seems to be fine, except for one problem that I also had with my old Yamada. the problem is that when I have DivX movies stored on a DVD-R, playback becomes distorted and jumpy. however, when i try adding the same movie files onto a CD-R playback is perfect.. does anybody know if this is because of the discs im using or if its a problem with the player?

No problem here with this player on DVD-R. I'm using Datasafe blue..
As for firmware, I wouldn't hold your breath as this model doesn't even appear on the Eltax website. Its probably Eltax badged generic and same/similar to others out there i.e. one of the mediatek chipsets
