We just purchased this recorder last month. The box says it will take 2X - 4X, however, it will not record on anything but the 2X. Called the company and they said the manual was wrong, that only 2X will work with this recorder. Are the 2Xs becoming outdated? We have had a hard time finding them. Finding the 4X is no problem. I hate to have just purchased something and cannot find the DVD-RWs to go with it.
The slower speed media is becomming outdated .. you know, everyone wants it done like, yesterday .. Lots of the media has multiple recording speeds available, however. I know that the Emerson recorders are notorious for their pickyness when it comes to what you feed it. I'd try several different brands of DVD-RW discs and see if you can find one that your particular machine likes ... Is there a reason that you are using -RW instead of -R discs? Most of the -R discs (like Sony) are rated 1x-8x. I don't use -RW discs in my LiteOn set top recorders but, the +RW discs that I use are branded Office Depot and are speed rated 4x. When I run them through a DVD identifier program them come out as Ricohjpn made discs and are okay for speeds 1x-4x. They are pretty cheap .. you may want to try the Office Depot branded -RW and see if they work. •Good Luck• ~post some results~
Hi Shirley, Try Walmart for Maxell x2 DVD-RW. I have the EWR10d4. These work great. Too bad that Emerson screwed that one up. Maybe they will come out with an upgrade to fix that problem. Greg
