Had this machine about 8months, recorded a ton of disks, using mostly
the 8xSony MIJs, and started using 16x Verbatims when 8x started getting scarcer. Lately I cant get it to accept the 16x Verbs any more, rejects them all 'unable to record this disk blah blah' after going thru maybe 200 of them previously. I cant figure out if its really dirty inside, or if this is the beginning of the end, I know lasers wear out. I expected to get more than 8months service out of this thing. I have cleaned it with the dry-wipe disk and the wet-system, it still rejects the verbs.
Should I try to take it apart, had the cover off once but all the dvd-works are covered up with a circuit board, doubt I would have any luck getting to the parts that need more cleaning. Anybody else ran into this? I know its supposed to only record on 8x but it was doing fine on the 16x, recorded maybe 200 of them until this week.

Here's what I did=the machine must've had some stubborn dust in the wrong place, and the cleaning disks couldnt remove it. I bought a can of compressed air at wallyworld, took cover off dvd recorder and carefully gave the insides a few short blasts of air. This may not be recommended at all but it seems to have worked so far. This recorder had gotten to the point it wouldnt even record on a verbatim disk, sony (TY) was all it would burn until I tried this fix. Now it seems to be a-ok again.
