for CJ420 here what programs you need *ps2mame emulators *cdgenps2 *nero burning rom *make a folder call Roms and place all mame roms files inside. *edit the gamelist.txt file with notepad and list, one after the other, the names of your ROM files minus the extension. Make sure to use CAPS *install and load CDGenPS2. Drag the contents of your PS2Mame folder into the right-hand window of CDGenPS2 *Right click on the file system.cnf you just copied into CDGenPS2. for CJ420 I don't know if burning it on a dvd+-r will work but if you want to try following the guide here what programs you need *ps2mame emulators *nero burning rom *unzip the PS2Mame *make a folder call Roms and place all mame roms files inside *edit the gamelist.txt file with notepad and list, one after the other, the names of your ROM files minus the extension. Make sure to use CAPS open up nero burning rom here are the settings for a dvd *DVD-Rom(UDF/ISO) not the DVD-Rom(ISO) *ISO File name length:Max of 31 chars(ISO level 2) Formant:Mode 1 Character set: ISO9660 (standing ISO Cd-rom) *Burn make the speed at least 1x or 4x when your done click New ok it time to drag the files you need here the list you should have on the left side *Roms *Gamelist *Ps2mame.elf *Sjpcm.irx *System.cnf *ps2mame.nfo Once you have them all burn it and use swap magic dvd ver. or modchip to load it
for K_Arnold I done it already and it works fine with swap magic cd ver. I don't know about burning it on a dvd-r and using swap magic dvd ver. I haven't try it yet.
the end thanks for the walkthru it seems I have followed all those steps created the ROM folder edited the gamelist.txt file, all caps, no extensions dragged the folders to the CDGenPS2 app set the LBA created image (may have these steps memorized by now) I've burned with 4 different programs. Roxio CD copy, DVD Decrypter, Nero, and Alcohol 120 (PS2 mode) Ive tried both CD-R and DVD+R. In the Nero program that most recommend, I can not find where to set the specific options (file structure, level, character set). I did use the burn from ISO option. Maybe I have to use "Make Data Disk"? so far 5 discs that are only coasters now. using Swap magic vers. 3.6 not sure what else I need to check to troubleshoot , read something abotut the order of the files before the ISO is created.. still stumped...
After the drag, I arranged them in the same order as found on this page: http://www.richpsx.com/playstation2/utilities/ps2mame.html should I drag to window one at a time? would that matter? this also was the case: there was no "SET LBA", it was shown as "FIX LBA" after the system LBA was changed the others changed on their own (which is normal) AND the system file had an asterisk * next to it. It is Nero express, I believe. But shouldnt Alcohol work too?
it should be this order, dragged in one at a time cdgenps2 roms systemcnf gamelist elf file sjpcmirx and fix lba is the same as set lba,(that must have a typo error by the tutorial maker) [bold]i think your problem might be that your using swapmagic[/bold] cheers!!
Swap Magic has nothing to do with it. Swap Magic plays next to everything that modchips do. And that includes full support for emulators. Chances are, it's the way it's being compiled, the media it's being burnt onto, or the laser inside the system. -Mike
hello not sure i agree with you there, swapmagic is known for not booting emu's very well, especially as its on cd disk. they dont boot games with multiple elf files you could try putting on dvd disk, but you need to patch the elf file to dvd first. then compile the image with cd/dvd gen. lets see if he got the right order first cheers!
MAME, PGEN, ItMightBeNes, and SNES Station all work perfect for me on CD. True the laser lens is a little stressed out when CDs are used, but they play perfectly for me and I'm running v 3.3 with a new laser. -Mike
hello cool,.well at least thats a few that have confirmed it works with swapmagic, that narrows it down a bit cheers
CJ420 you did everything correct for the cdgenps2 part you should have two files you made (Imagen files and Imagen bin file) if you using alcohol 120% here how you do it *open up alcohol 120% *on the left side it should say Image Burning Wizard click that one *select an image file you would like to record so click Browse and find the file call imagen once you find it click on next *on write speed lower the speed down to 4x *on write method pick DAO/SAO *on the bottom Datatype pick Customize *once your done click Start and that it
yep thats how i burned with alcohol it even has a PS2 mode which makes those settings for you are there various versions of ps2mame and cdgenps2? maybe i am using an older version. just a thought. my disc only has 12 roms on it. The image file is very small. Each time in the boot loader it says "Not a valid ps2 disc" i used the ISO option in cdgenps2 havent tried with bin format yet.
hey if someone wants to PM me their email i will send the actual iso. that might help to narrow it down, whether it is the iso file or the burning menthod, or disc. i am going to try an alternate cd media next. thanks
hello when you click on the image button,it should have made a bin and cue file you burn the cue with alcohol120,or if you havent got that, burn the bin image with dvd decrypter cheers!!!
hello i made this, see if it helps,it works,as i have tested it myself it you try it,and it dont work, then its either your swapmagic method/you disks or your laser http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/340352
