i'm in the same boat as the other guy. My connection recently(past 3 weeks) has been low around 3kbytes/sec.
My max was around 17 I think(which I am happy with). I have had my laptop running for weeks and would only turn it off for a couple of hours every week or so. I dload anime with it so all m files are top quality and at least 200MB each (thus once I dload an entire series 26eps i must delete some old shared files to make room). I use a server called AnimeReactor server #3. I set all my setting properly and took off my firewall yet it always says i have a lowID. Maybe its cause I am a fairly new user(2-3months) but I have dloaded about 23GB (I think is not bad for rogers lite :p ) dunno how much people uploaded from me but I assume its alot cause they never stop uploading.

Here's a curly one for you. I have a green arrow, and a red arrow. Whats that supposed to mean? I cant seem to find it anywhere, and emule-project.net/faq hasn't been of much help so far...

On (fairly rare) occasions, I can get downloads of 30+kb/s, but I would like that to be more often. I don't have a LowID (I already solved that problem :) )

    1/07/2004 5:19:27 p.: Connected to Razorback 2 (195.245.244.243:4661), sending login request
    1/07/2004 5:19:38 p.: Connection established on: Razorback 2
    1/07/2004 5:19:38 p.: New clientid is 703014346

... I have been doing a lot of fiddling, nevertheless, but if anyone knows the solution to the problem, I would be grateful.

    I'm on 2MBits connection
I have a "router" (Win2k Adv. Server with Wingate 5.1 - port forwarding for ports 4662 and 4762, which solved the LowID problem)
I have ZoneAlarm, but still have this issue when it is turned off (and the truevector service is off too)

Even when connecting directly (without the router/w2k box) I have this issue - all firewalls are off...

    Ideas?

I agree with someone wayyy up above...

u'r 1st choice for P2P software should be one that gives u amazing download speeds and the stuff that u download shouldn't be fake...

for that i recommend mirc (i'm still testing this method, heard its fast) ...or overnet, which i currently use...

For mp3's use kazaalite ...nothing better than this imo..

For harder to find files...stick to overnet...I think this systems has the widest selection of content..

To answer to martmart...i don't know whether this will help in your download speeds but here's what I do and i don't know whether u have set this for u'r emule...

step 1: set all your download priorities to high

step 2: once u started downloading a large file, after a few mb or so, you'll see that that file will now be available for sharing under your "shared" tab in emule. change all the files to "release" mode...that is, every file that you have now , whether its completed or not will be available for sharing.

step 3: VERY important !!! share the files that you're only downloading at the moment. Emule uses the credit rating system...Use this to your advantage..Pull out all your other completed files from your incoming folder.. (or whatever folder you are sharing content from) and only share the files that you're currently downloading (which is possible because u've already set the files that you're sharing to "release mode" in step 2.

Step 4: once you've finished downloading and do not wish to download any further, leave your computer on and plug back in all your previously downloaded files back into your incoming folder for people to upload from you while u do other stuff. This helps the community to survive as a whole and supports the network.

step 5: remember to chill...downloads take time

    Hope this helps

I'd reccomend using IRC -- mIRC is just a client -- and their are better ones :) (a minor technicality but an important one)

    Argueable

Also true ... although you should realize (if you dont already), that Onet uses the same network as eDonkey and eMule :)

Very true .... after all ... ur getting whatever it is for free

    Kazza Lite Resurrection is better

    you can find fakes anywhere...

but your right, IRC is the best for the latest/biggest files - both in speed and availability

Hey, newbie here, i don't know if anyone is still following this thread, but i've noticed something that my help ppl like MartMart.... everyone seems to be using port 4662 as their tcp/ip port, well, i suggest you change this to something else because i found out that some servers don't like this port as it is blocked by quite a few internet providers, who knows, might solve your problem ;).

I finally got rid of my low id thanx to another topic in this forum by JudoBoy and now my crappy 6 digit client ID has changed to a 10 DIGIT clientID 1566818885. Not bad for some1 who has crappy rogers lite (16KB max) and has only been using emule for a couple months.
