I went to run a film the other day and I got this message.

    AVIFileOpen("I:\WORKINGPATH\D2VAVS\V0300000000001002.avs"):error 0x80040154

The only thing I can see in the log is some type of avisynth unknown error. When I go to my cce.exe file, cce pops up like it is supposed to. I am running DVD-RB Pro, and my filepath to my encoder is correct. I thought perhaps my first rip of the film was bad, so I ripped it again. Same thing. So I ripped another film and got the same issue, on a different film. I tried to find somewhere to properly direct DVD-RB to my AVISynth, but found no pathway. Also, I just completely deleted and reloaded the newest version of DVD-RB Pro and all my encoder paths are set up correctly. My main drive is the "C" drive, but my workingpath drive is actually my "I" drive, so that notation is correct, it is not an error. My log is as follows:

Any ideas? I looked for avisynth and it is on my rig still. I have been using this program for a couple years and never had this issue, then all the sudden it stopped working.

Not sure if the Avisynth problem is causing this, but i'll wager you do need to sort out Avisynth.
Also, you could try out HC Encoder (free), there's no need for CCE with the quality output by HC these days :)

When you uninstalled DVD Rebuilder, did you also uninstall Avisynth?
If not, when you ran the install for Rebuilder, it may have not been able to fix the issue. Uninstall both programs and then rerun the install for rebuilder to see if that helps. Be sure to run a good registry cleaner after the uninstall to get rid of any traces that could cause issues.

I did not uninstall avisynth. Actually the problem occurred before I updated to the current version of DVD-RB. It worked fine one weekend, then the next it stopped working. But just for shits and grins I will try to uninstall both avisynth and DVD-RB and reinstall it again.

I wanted to note, I just tried running the rip using HC, but I wound up with the same error. I will include the log here as well.

Interestingly avisynth did not get reloaded when I just reinstalled DVD-rb after uninstalling it and cleaning my registry. I will try to reload it avisynth alone and see what happens.

Does JDobbs even support this product anymore? He isn't answering anything on his forum, and it doesn't appear like he answers anything here...

Yes he still supports Rebuilder and a new version is in the works. If you downloaded the full installer package, make sure you let it install everything.

OK, for future reference, I just uninstalled and reinstalled avisynth manually and cce started working again. I don't know why but when I reinstalled DVD-RB it didn't load avisynth. So I went to sourceforge and dled the .exe file and all is well.

Thats odd that it didn't install with the Rebuilder package, but happy to hear that you got it working all the same.
