encoding advice

    hi guys i am new to all this. Before anyone says "try searching the forum or read the forum" I dont have much time working 12hr night shifts all help is much apprieciated.

    now for my problem
    i have downloaded a few movies which are rar files i have unpacked them and they play grat on my pc but now what do u have to do to be able to burn them on disc?

    what software do ineed?

    once again all help is apprieciated

    lol i will try to help... but first when u extracted them from rar... what file extension is the file?? .avi? .mpeg? what?

    how do i find that out? i think they are divx

    like i sauid all help apprieciated

    i have found out what they are some are showing as mpeg and some just show as video file.

    right click the file u extracted and go to properties and see what "type of file it is"

    ok for both those files u will need vso divx to dvd program and in there u can convert the files to VOB files and then use nero to burn them

    they are avi i am 100% certain this time because when i open xvid coedc and use one of the programs that came with it it shows they are avi files

    VSO DivxtoDVD will convert this file for you... like i said into VOB files and u need nero to burn these files to dvd.. then u have a dvd to play in your dvd player.

    what version of nero do you suggest and where can i get it for free because i am a tight ass

    like suggested,use dvixtodvd to convert them,
    this will give you a video ts folder,
    you can download the trial of clonedvd2 from slysoft,and burnt the video ts folder with that

    hi guys i have converted 2 films 1 give me 1 vob file the other has got 8 how do i know which one out of the 8 i need
