Hi there, can anyone help iv been trying to solve this problem for 2 months now and im not getting any closer to solving this problem...im having problems with the outcome of my home made dvds i use Nero 7 to transcode my movies to dvd and then burn them on to a blank dvd+r i then watch it and find that the movie has small pauses as its playing??? It’s kind of a stop and start motion, it gets more obvious when it gets to a part where there is a lot of camra movement. Example when the camera movies to the right or left in the movie you start to see small pauses (stop and start motion) or when a person on the movie quickly rushes by. I assumed it was the software i was using Nero 7 so i downgraded and used Nero 6 with no luck, problem was still there..I then changed to roxio 8 suit and that was the same the problem was still there, then 3 weeks later i upgraded my systems motherboard cpu and hard drive (for other reasons) and the problem hadn’t gone away. I continued to search for a solution to stop this start and stop motion i get when making my own dvds, then finally i changed something in the video options in Nero 7
the video mode, giving me an option to change it to pal or ntsc...it had been on pal as the default setting so i changed it to ntsc and previewed the movie (this is just b4 the encoding stage in nero 7, gives u a chance to view what you are encoding to dvd you don’t have to go through the whole encoding process to view this problem) and there was no start or stop motion the movie was like a stream running down a mountain (no stop or start motion) but my dvd players are all PAL and don’t work with NTSC so i cant encode a movie to ntsc if my dvd player is Pal.

Can anyone help me with this problem?? anyone know what the problem mmight be?

I would try a different program to do the encoding. Nero does a really bad job at encoding. Try downloading tmpeg express free trial and see if that works. Also what is your sorce video. Are you capturing from something?

What kind of file are the movies. I still think that its your encoder. Some encoders take two passes so that motion doesnt stall or produce block noise. Another program to try would be dvx to dvd, you can download it free from AD. That would at least tell you if its nero or if the movie is in a strange format. Hope this helps.

Do you any other programs running in the background during encoding? You should have shutdown all your programs, like anti-virus and such. No screen savers either. That might help. Whenever I encode or burn, I try not to have anything else bothering the CPU.

62 processes are running in task manager at the moment but i know it cant be that...let me explain in Nero 7 it gives the option to preview the movie b4 encoding, in preview you can see the pauses (stop and start motion) which is great as you don’t have to go through the whole encoding process to see this problem....anyway when i see these problem in preview i don’t encode as the turn out will be the same as the priview. the original format the video is now has no problems playing on my computer its when i want to encode to dvd that i get this problem/s.

iv just tried with another movie and there is a watermark along the bottom of the movie plus the pauses are there as well (start and stop motion)
all these symptoms are not in the original format of the movie only when i encode it to dvd.

more help would be great thank you
