Hello! My 5G IPOD was bought at MacMall.com and they engraved it for me. Today I went to a Genius bar at Aplle store and was told that engraving done by MacMall voids an apple care plan. Does anybody know about this. Would appreciate any comments.

Thats weird. I had my iPod engraved at a FastFix. and it broke and they gave me a new iPod no questions aked.

That is very odd how it would void the Apple care because there isn't anythig attached to the back of the case that could get broken.

I think they would have said that because you can get them engraved from Apple themselves so if you did it from someone else they wont accept it. Its pretty odd that they would accept domreis' one though and not yours.

Yea, I bought my iPod from the Apple store, and asked them to engrave it and they said we can't you have to do that online, they then said; you can tak it to a Jewler and get it done if you would like.

yeh i dont think it voids the care plan. its probably just that one apple store dude being lazy, cause they dont make any money on care plan intakes, so they make BS excuses as to why they cant fix yours so they can spend more man hours on other things that produce money, or sitting on his ass if hes a hourly employee. just take it to a diferent apple store or at least take it back there and try a diferent person.
