Hi guys ! As I was browsing in this forum I realized that most of you guys almost know the stucture of a DVD movie quite well . I have a question and I hope somebody will help me out with this : I have a DVD movie [ Mr.Brooks ] whish does not have subtitle . I downloaded Mr.Brooks' subtitle file from a website and now I like to watch this movie on my DVD player [ not on my pc ] with subtitle . So , Is there any way to attach this subtitle file to the main movie file and then burn them together on a DVD and watch it on my DVD player ? I really really appreciate your help . Thank you very much . Nader
This assumes that it's a NTSC disk. If the final DVD needs to be in PAL format, it should be converted before going on (subsequent references to NTSC should be changed to PAL). It also assumes that the movie has been ripped and shrinked to fit a standard DVD-5 and is now in a folder. Subs are time-stamped for PAL or NTSC depending on who wrote them, this can be adjusted in DVDAuthorGUI, but it should be checked before burning. VobEdit converts the movie to an audio and video stream. The GUI adds the subtitles. The original menu is not saved. Run VobEdit > Click 'Open', select the first large VOB of the title (normally, but not always, VTS_01_1.VOB) the rest will come in at the same time. Click 'Demux' > Click 'All Video and Audio'. The files will be saved as an .m2v and an ac3. Run DVDAuthor GUI Set the DVD format as NTSC. Click 'Add Title' and select the .m2v and ac3 Click 'Extras' and select 'Add/Edit Subtitles'. In the Subtitles window, choose 'Add subtitle' and locate the .srt file. In the Subtitles window, 'fps' should reflect the DVD type (PAL 25, NTSC 29.97) Click 'Author DVD' and save the output. Test the output with the PC media player then either readjust the sub position or burn to DVD.
