I gave up on Epson stylus printers a while back because they kept breaking, but what happens when you install the cartridge, nothing? HAve you tried a different cartridge? And for the 820, what light flashes and when?

well I am using generic Epson Ink. They seem to work in otherss but this one I dont know just replaced head and reset ink and still does not print. The 820 when I turn it on it goes through self test and when the head parks the green light stays on and the red flashes.

That's a tricky one to be honest, it may be worth asking Epson about it. Funny, we don't have much printer discussion here at aD, don't know why...

To be fair, the repair charge of printers is such that I'd buy another cheap one like my Lexmark P706. The new model (707 or whatever it is) is similar and this one's been good.

You could just have a faulty chip in the new ink carts.
Try using the chips from an old cartridge before doing too much else.
Also make sure all the carts are the same make , do not mix epson with other makes.
