no eventually the printer will stop working claiming that service is required something about the waste ink tank. its usually bogus and a preset mathmatical limit even though the printer is just fine wanna know what the suggested rapair method is ? buy a new printer.! yeah right toss a perfectly good printer just because some chip says its no good since I reset the printer I have printed way more than another 1000 discs no problems yet. only problem is I have to "nudge" the tray initially to get it tosuck it in. no problem otherwise prints great. no ink leaking anywhere. Epsons really bad for that :-( they also tend to set those chip to declare the cartridge LONG LONG before its really empty. sometimes when its still half full and I have seen that for myself. print 9 full bleed prints. it declares the cartridge empty I reset the cartridge stick it back in and get 11 more full bleed prints from it. Grrrr Chris Taylor http://www.nerys.com/
Ok do you have a link on how to reset the printer, cause the only thing that I found by goggle is a chip setter which it says you have to buy,
I am not near the printer now to test it and I have not done this in a long time so I do not recall but this should be it Rather than having to use the Epson utility to reset the error message/counter, you can also use these tested procedures I found on the web: 1. Press and hold 'stop' 'maintenance' and 'power' buttons for about 10 seconds, a message will come on the screen saying counter is reset and to turn off. 2. Turn your printer off and then back on - job done. 3. When resetting the counters you should really replace the waste ink pad but can get away with removing the pad then washing it out and allowing it to dry before putting it back into the printer. #3 is phooey they are alcohol based its not likely you do enough printing to NEED to really empty them. in in doubt make sure it aint on anything you would not want ink on i have never once seen one leak but dont hold me to it Chris Taylor http://www.nerys.com/
STAY AWAY FROM EPSON,, the r200 picture wuality is fine, but the printer kinda sucks.. but even worse is the customer service.. you cant talk to anyone, you have to only talk to an automated cs.. and it was down. So there was no cs at all!. they will not replace a printer if its broke, you have to take it to an authorized dealer, which in my case is 6 hours away, and get it Fixed.. cant replace, only fix. no shipping paid.. id get a canon. i used to like this printer but after dealing with their bullsht i cant stand them anymore.
Hello their jetyi83..where u live ?here where i live[USA,Florida]u can only get epson printer,u can't get canon..that is for printing on CD's..there service is good & they do replace printers..postage pre-paid..unfortunately i had to return 2 printers..they sent the first 1 within 3 days i had a new or refurbished
what?? i live in california. i emailed them over 10 times and they told me the same crap over and over.. then i called the service center and she told me that she could only fix it, not replace it. no matter how badly it was broken. epson was horrible.. they were actually being dicks to me. i told them it was 6 hours away and they pretty much said too bad for you. canon does make injet cd printable printers.
and another bad thing, is the waste of ink.. you can literally repeatedly turn this printer on and off without printing one thing until the ink will be read lower and lower, and completely runs out. you can run out of ink without makin one print.. pretty retarded if you ask me. obviously there is going to be ink still in the cartridge but that makes no difference, there is a chip on the side that tells the printer how much ink has been used, and if it says none left, you cant use the printer anymore. even if the cartridge is actually completely full.
hello again jetyi83..they might have changed their policy within the last 6 mons..but i had no problem..i just called there 800# in the manual..gave him my credit card # for guaranteed return of my broken printer..they paid for everything..even sent me another set of cartridges..what canon printer prints on CD's..I'd like to check it out..i think their ink is cheaper in price.I've searched & can't find a canon CD printer..except overseas UK etc.
I'd like to know where to get a Canon CD printer in the US. Last I looked a few weeks ago they were available in the UK but not in the US. Newbious
very simple WARRANTY We have been lucky so far. one thing I did was to use the epson for absolutely NOTHING but cd/dvd printing. I NEVER put a peice of paper in that machine except super high gloss paper (no fibers to transfer) for head testing etc.. we have printed thousands of discs I have had to reset the waste counter once already. so far so good (we have 2 R200's and 1 R300) we got a really good deal on another R200 for $79 so we grabbed that to keep as a spare backup unit in case one does go down. we use a canon for picture printing because #1 I love the BCI3 cartridges they are ultra cheap at under $2 a pop and only the canon does TRUE edge to edge ie no overlap or overbleed the ENTIRE picture which is critical for the things I print. Chris Taylor http://www.nerys.com/
hmm, maybe they dont have one. I thought the canon they sold at staples had cd printing capability, but im not positive. It seriously looked like it did though, it had a tray that was very similar to epson's. Ill be sure to check next time im there. warranty or not though, the CS at epson was horrible, mine is definately under warranty, but they wouldnt replace anything.. and why did you need to give out your credit card information? that doesnt make much sense. ive had 2 of these printers. the first one got old and wore out, it said the "parts were past their service life" and stopped printing. ive made over 2000 prints with them together. like i said the picture quality isnt bad, but the quality of the printer is pretty lacking. especially the return policy.
rick5446-- Hi all--sorry to jump in here but I saw you were talking about the Epson Photo printer--Stylus R200--(I live in Florida--Fort Laud area)I got one 2 months ago and absolutely love it--I got replacement inks from Supermedia and they work well--I did have problems in the beginning and actually got ink all inside the printer--I cleaned it as best I could and now seems to be OK--I do have a question if anyone can help me--when I go to print on DVD's it works fine except for when the image is actually too small--can I actually enlarge the entire image to be printed? If so, how? Thanks to anyone who can help Whitfield
I resize the image with Paint Shop Pro. I crop the edges on all 4 sides to just inside where the art work starts a pixel or 2 and resize it to 12cm at 200 - 300 DPI. You can stretch a smaller image to fit by dragging the edges of the image to fit the template in the Epson print CD software. I think resizing with Paint Shop or Photoshop is best though. Newbious
OK--Thanks--I will try that--I don't have Paint Shop Pro, but I do have Picassa 2 and Adobe--just need to play around with them--but for now, I am going to just try and strectch the image as you suggest--thanks
Hello their Whitfield..U might find this place a little better in price & the quality of ink is good..http://private.abacus24-7.com/(mfohflqsewy0ww553xfmn0il)/home.aspx?..I go through an average of 2 sets of cartridges a week..another hint is u will use 2 black & 2 yellow more then the rest of the colours u use so when ordering make sure u buy the xtra black & yellow now for the next problem..after u open your CD PRINT..GO TO IMPORT & select picture, instead of background..u will see a bunch of black tics all around your label use these to resize your label..now on the yellow CD to the left click to resize your CD OUTER DIAMETER 120 ALWAYS..INNER DIAMETER 40 OR 41 DEPENDING ON PRINTER..U will have 2 play with inner as i don't know what DISC u use..Hub printable i use 120 & 20..standard DVD i use 120 & 40 these settings work great for me...If u know u are going to need the same label again u can save it in the epson format..& it will retain all the info for u..so the next time all u have to do is click on it where ever u saved it..it will pop right up for u then just hit print HOPE this helps
Hi Rick-- Hey, thank you so much for your help--I printed out your suggestions and will play around with them this evening--already have purchased the inks--your right again--I use the black and yellow much faster than the other colors--Have a great day and thanks again! Whitfield
THE reason u have to give them your credit card # is to guarantee u send back the falted printer..& not decide to keep it along with the new one they ship u..u know what scams are?
I live in Germany and own an Epson R300 and a Canon ip 3000 and now a 4000. The Pixma series blow the epsons away for CD Print quality, speed and most of all the inks last alot longer. Not to say that the Epson is not a bad printer, It isn't but there are people using the epson and R thinking it's da dogs bollocks (Mostly N. Americans where there are no plans by canon of yet to release Pixma CD printing ip's) Try The Canon Pixma for affordability and it's CD printing is amazing too.
Well Thanks Manu_DVD..There are a lot of people here in the USA that are waiting to use the Canon printers...DO us a favor & put a boot up their ASS for us..maybe we'll get them, then AGAIN THANKS
Here's the link to Canon's email support. http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=SupportMailerAct&fcategoryid=257&modelid=10239 I just emailed them and told them I live in the US and want to purchase the Canon PIXMA iP4000 that prints on CDs. Maybe they'll make it available in the US if enough people show interest in it. Newbious
