Quick Question..I bought the R300 when it first came out[200bucks]..About 3mons after I bought it the DVD Tray would hang..you could give it a nudge[push]& it would start to roll & print. So called Epson..They sent me another printer 2days later same thing..So I've lived with this ever since..Anyway do the newer printers do this,or has Epson corrected this problem I think I'm at a point where I might need another printer..Recently its started to do strange things ! Shots out the back like a bullet & other times the DVD tray will go past the drop down guides & flip it up & hang Both are minor problems in my mind, but none the less they are problems.Eventualy they will turn out to be major problems
Mine does the same thing at the beginning of the template trying to feed into the printer, and also-at the end of the printing process,I have to pull it out manually or I'll get an error. I gotta baby that template, but she still prints beautifully! She's making more noises while I baby that template in and out of her. Mine was launched by my Ex-Wife a year and a half ago so there has been some harsh abuse against my R-200.The main eject tray is also broken. Staple's had the R-240 on sale for $80 in my locale. I'm holding out for the $50 clearance price like I got my dad's R-220 last year.
I am new to this forum approach to getting answers so here goes. I am using a Epson R200 and Epson Print CD software to print my CD and DVD's. Does anyone know how to set a template up for mini DVD or Business card CD's?
You should have gotten another insert template to fit inside your plastic slide tray. It's the same thickness as a reg disc. I haven't used mini dvd's,but I just sacraficed blank cd for you. Here's how I would do it-you have to measure the printable surface of the disc: Open up espson print cd. Click on the yellow disc icon and lower the outer target to 80,depending how exactly wide your mini discs are. You'll have to measure your blank inkjet printable discs.I measured my template and 80 should get you close, maybe even a hair lower like 78. Outer Setting: Take a milli-stick/tape measure, using the millimeter side. Measure the white printable face- from the outer edge to opposite outer edge-which you'd get the widest reading, that should get you close: Example: Reg cd/dvd is 119 mms wide,so I use 119 as my setting. My test print looked like 80 would be very close. Inner Setting: Measure just like you did your outside-but do it for the inner part of the printable surface-which is closest to the hole. Measure from the inner most of the white, through the hole,up to the opposite side of the white printable surface and that should be your setting: Example: Full hub-which prints right up to the center hole: 20 mms. Reg hub, which is further away from the inner circle, should be around 40 mms. Your's should be inbetween 20 and 40 mms. After the setting change, make sure you click OK. My inner looked perfect on my test cd. Now when you open up print cd,locate your picture, the size template screen pops up. It looks like it's made for a reg size disc, but ignore what that looks like. As long as your outer is around 80 and figuring out what the inner should be,you should be good to go.
Let me know how it goes. You are the 1st person that I have seen that asked that question.I'm surprised I haven't seen anything about inkjet printable mini cd/dvds around here. I'm curious about that inner hub measurement.
funny the mini dvd's come up. i was just over microcenter and they had i know thousands of them out and about printable non printable only really seen a few different name brands. here's my question about them can you use shrink and put a movie on them? nto that im gonna try..lol. as far as the ink goes for the epsons.. i just used my first cart up today. the yellow one went out first. i think its been about 3 months now that i've gotten my printer.. im very happy with how long before i needed to change... i think black is going next.. i havent gotten the down to 20% popup like i did for the yellow but it is close

rick5446 I've done 75 DVD 75 covers and 48 CD's and 48 cd covers and misc. printing and is just about due to change the black cartridge the rest of my color carts run a prtty much equal amount. I'll run 11/2 black to 1 set of color. Thats the same on the 220 and 340. I set both of these up to I believe Alkohols settings when I got them. Chris Edit Just going back to the beginning of the thread and i see a lot of people use yellow and black more. I looked at my settings and I have the yellow set for more than the rest and it runs equivalent to the rest of the colors. Now I'm curious if it's the printers or the set ups on the printers we're using.
cincy rob: I'd guess dvd shrink should be able to work with mini-dvds,just have to reduce the backup target size to 1.3/1.4 gbs??.It would have to be a small movie. A guy I work with loves those little mini dvds because they fit in his pocket. I never really had a use for them.

ANSWER...Allthe epsons are great for printing to Disc..Buy the best bargain What would you guys recommend me? I would like to print on the HUB also. ANSWER...Buy hub printable Discs And on regular silver or white media the ink smuges? does it smuge even if its cured after 48 hours? Answer...All standard discs are going to smear..U need to buy printable discs white faced or silver
Ink Smudges? It could be the ink or media,or even both. Mine-R200- are dry to the touch in minutes, but I still leave them set a couple hrs. Printable media? Verbatim,Taiyo Yuden,Maxell hitachi-Inkjet Printable,Full Hubs, white glossy, silver shiny. The white matte have a dull finish. The shiny's give a very distinct cover-almost a 3D look. Beware of prodisc and other brand names. I gotta wait for my suppy of Hitachi maxell FH, matte discs and Ty-G02 reg hub shiny disappear, then it's full hub glossy time-for both white and shiny. Here's a few of mine:
saugmon That is a good pic for comparison... (thank you) The shinny (silver) disc it's great for that rainbow effect. The white just brings out all the colors out solid. I'm considering of getting TY watershield glossy white full hub. But also the TY silver full hub cd's look mighty sexy but I'm worried about them smudging. I'm debating still if I should get the R200 or the R260. (I know ink is more expensive for the R260 even generic ink.) By the way... I like your frog.
That's what I'd get next when my supply runs out. I loaded up last year at wal-mart.They had the white/matte white full hub hitachi maxells dirty cheap. These maxell hitachi are near identical to my verbatim full hubs-very sweet!!!!!! White/Matte: My lighter covers are disappointing. They'll look pretty faded. The one in my pic I posted looked ok,but it's faded. Lighter covers,I'll slap them on shiny's or lightscribe. Now the darker covers look pretty good. Glossy, even better covers!!!! That shiny disc in that picture wasn't very good.I couldn't locate a really good cover for that flick. The color really shows up with a good dowloaded label. My #1 cover site is letting me down. All the latest covers are foreign, and no new stuff since 2-8-07. The R-200's are gone. There might be some rebuilt ones on the net. There's some R-220's out there, sams club, staples, bestbuy. Staple's clear them out from time to time.I picked my dad up the R-220 for $50 at staples a couple years ago.
I have used the R300 for a couple of years and had very good results but have just switched over to the Canon ip4300 with very good results. That is another option you have and Staples here in Canada is selling them for $149. I have found the print quality to be better than that of my Epson R300 with absolutly no disk tray problems.
