I have been looking at the R220 for printing on CD/DVD's. I have been reading that the inks are waterbased and therefore prone to smudgeing and running. Have also read that some have been spraying with acrylic to protect the printing. Anyone have any experience or knowledge of the new R260? Are the inks waterbased also? Is it prone to smudgeing and running also. Should I buy the 220 for $70 at Sam's or get the 260 for $129 Thanks, Carol
I have the R220. It is a fine printer. Now, the R260 is also a fine printer. It can use the new Claria inks which have some smudge proof properties, as well as high quality printing, however, a six pack of its inks cost $120.00. Not exactly cost efficient in my estimation. Inks for the R220 can be purchased at Abacus.com for a fraction of the cost of Claria inks. And I have purchased a six pack of inks for my R220 at Meritline on sale for $19.99! That to me would be the deal clincher. My advice - get the R220 at Sam's. They have the best price around on those Epson Printers. This is link to the Epson site for the R260, then, Just click on the INKS at the right to see the price of those Claria inks. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/...infoType=FandB&oid=63059188&category=Products
Mozilfox, Thanks. That's kind of what I've been thinking. The price for the 220 is so cheap. Almost the amount of a set of cartridges. Even if I decide to get the 260 later, cost is almost a wash. Carol
