Hi, I'm am getting code 07 with out any mods. I did try to reattach the IDE cable and a different IDE cable and got the same thing. When I tried a differnt Hd it gave me code 15. Any ideas of what I should try to do next?
Of course that won't work...you can't just take an xbox hdd from one box and put it in another. At a minimum, both hdds would have to be softmodded and they would both need the same EEPROM so they'd be compatible with the xbox you use them in. What were you doing or trying to do when your xbox gave you these errors? Was your xbox dropped or anything of the sort?
I think you might be confused Uniique1 when you say EEPROM I think you ment to say 'HDD-Lock Key' (which is located on the EEPROM), and by proxy you'd be correct! But, all this Guy needs to do is to basicly unlock the HDD from the original XBOX™ with Configmagic. If he can run a GSH from a Mem-Cart. It should be a simple procedure to get an FTP up and running in order to install ConfigMagic to it. Once the Drive is unlocked then he should be able to move it into the other XBOX™. Having copied the GSH to the E: Drive, you should be able to boot your original Game Disc, then load your GSH. Then make the final boot back into EvoX. Since ConfigMagic should already be on that Drive. All that's left to do, is to run it and then relock the Drive. That's it... As for HDD Errors: 05 - The HDD is not locked: The HDD must be locked in order to use Retail Firmware. 06 - The HDD can not be unlocked: If you try moving a Stock XBOX™ HDD from One XBOX™ and try placeing it on another Logicboard without unlocking it first this is the error you will see! If you can not recover the proper 'Unlock Key' for said Drive. Then at least you can rest easy with your new Paperweight! 07 - The HDD Timed out: There many reasions why you could be getting this error. The First being, perhaps the most obvious. Did you make sure that all your Connections were solid? The IDE Cable can be a real B*tch at times as it can tear away from the Logicboard (under the DVD-ROM Drive), and cause this Error. Did you remember to set your Power (Molex), Connector? It happens to the best of us! Myself incuded! Sadly it could also mean that the HDD your trying to use is Dead. That has happend to me twice! With the Stock and with a Western Digital 80Gib HDD. 12 - DVD Timeout: Again the main reasion for this error is a bad IDE and or Power Connection. Or perhaps just a dud IDE Cable. A replcement (round) Ultra ATA133 Cable, might solve your problems...
