Just b3ecause it spins doesn't mean it works. I have loads that spin up but don't even id themselves to the controller.

Easy enough to recover from if you had the foresight to back up your eeprom off the xbox ;)

Well can you re-write the directions for making the eeprom reader for me?
im a nob at electronics and all the other pages just confused me a bit.
i did manage to build the reader but it doesn't work.

Is there anyother way of reading it?

It's a standard i2c device and can be read like any other i2c device if you have hardware which supports that function ;) I stick them on an old stick of ram and use i2c tools (comes with my OS) to do a dump.. then manually edit everything with a hex editor (cos I'm a bit 1337)

I'm not going to re-write a perfect guide because a: I didn't write it, just debugged it.. and b: I can't be bothered.

What usually helps is powering the eeprom from the external battery.. that's where most people seem to go wrong, or they don't read properly.. the only polarized components are the zener diodes.. it is important to check they are connected the right way round and are the right component. Why not contact chunkhead and see if he will sell you a completed and tested one?

Apparently the versions of some of the software used are critical, but I can't remember which.. my interests moved on from consoles a long time ago.
