    Hey. I got rid of all my virus problems and now i'm getting an error message saying windows can not find C:\windows\inet20001\winlogon.exe That's because it was removed. Two seconds after that. I get the BLUE SCREEN with error message 0x0000008e. Any ideas.

    I'm figuring some registry key or some file is still trying to initiallize the virus named winlogon.exe. But where is it? I searched the registry and there is nothing pointing to that directory. Ideas?

    I was fixing this for someone 2 days ago.
    I removed this display by finding the system.ini and (startup) RUN entries in registry (for each user). Safe Mode is useful too.

    Evil scum tied off the task manager and tried suppressing administrator didn't they. That's how I tracked down the offending processes and all files loaded thenabouts - I assume you have already done that.

    {I only spotted your message as I'm on an inet20001 hunt for future reference.}
    Good Luck.

    p.s. even with that message, I didn't get BSOD.

    ...sooo, I suspect you unfortunatel have another serious corruption to investigate. I hope you weren't over enthusiastic when removing viruses.

    grr. I have had to wait 3 minutes as a Newbie to do 2 posts
