I originally had an Xbox. I modded with XBMC. Later I cloned modded drive to a 300 GB, and locked it. After a while, the C drive got corrupt (Showed 350 mbs, didn't allow writing to, original dash non-existant).

The original computer I used to mod the hard drive is pooched, so I am using a secondary computer. On the secondary computer, I was able to unlock the hard drive, and re-write the contents to it using Krayzie's. However, when I go to re-lock the hard drive, I get an error stating for me to disable IDE auto-detection. Now, this secondary computer isn't mine, so I don't have the permission to modify the bios on this computer. Is there any way I can lock my hard drive using just my xbox? I DO have my EEPROM backed up onto the Krayzie disc, but the backup files are no longer on the hard drive.

Oh, and if need-be, I will re-format, however, I got a lot of content on that drive I do not want to erase.

Let people think... I read this a couple of days ago and I have been thinking..

The original PC with the trashed hdd... well seeing as you run xboxhdm off a custom built cd it doesn't matter that the hdd is trashed.. all you need to do is get the exploit dash files back on C and possibly rebuild the E with whatever dash you use...

As you know that mobo works just fine with the locking and things just use it.. you could even borrow the drive out of your loaner for a short time to transfer files..

Error13 is often caused by a crapped out philips dvd drive.. just FYI.

Hacking and repairs take a bit of sideways looking at the actual problem and thinking around it... you will learn.. honest :)

    I think you mis-read...

I know how to construct the hard drive using xboxhdm... the problem is that I can't re-lock the hard drive on this computer or my friend's computer... mine kicked the bucket because the motherboard is friend. I was wondering if there was a way to re-lock using my xbox and a program or a trick or something.

Like I said, when I attempt to re-lock, I get an error stating that there's an IDE autodetection error and requests for me to disable IDE autodetection. I got 2 problems with it.

    1) I can't find the setting in the bios to disable auto-detection (Not using the Phoenix Award Winning Bios... computer stuck with some other... most Dell and HP computers have the same motherboard bios that I am stuck with, and having problems with)

    2) It's not my computer... although I am savvy enough to play with motherboard settings, the owner doesn't want me to risk it, and quite honestly, it's not my motherboard so I can't say I want to risk changing any settings either.

Sorry to double post, but I forgot to mention this.

I only started getting error 13 once I had difficulties re-locking the hard drive. I also looked up the error at multiple sources and they all relate to the dashboard and/or hard drive locking.

My dvd rom works fine. When my xbox "died", I had just finished ripping a game onto the hard drive using DVD2Xbox no more then a couple days before.

I can only work on the information I am provided.. misread as original hdd.. been a heavy few days

Turn off hdd autodetect in the pc's bios (detect manually then set as USER).. reboot.. lock the drive.. then turn auto back on next reboot. nobody will ever know. :)

sorry.. check llamma forums for philips dvd drives and error9/13 strangeness.. it's quite well known, or it was to us site admins 4 years ago.

varnull, I appreciate the help. In your description of what you were talking about, I know exactly what you're talking about and what setting to change in the bios (I been around computers for 13+ years or so), however, on this bios, that feature isn't even there. Trust me, I looked.

You're talking about a bios configuration by Phoenix Award Bios's... this computer doesn't come with the same bios type. If it did, this would have been no problem and my xbox would have worked 3 weeks ago lol.

    Sorry to double post again...

varnull, here's a link to someone having the exact same problem as me, but they got better use of the English language... I saw a half-baked solution and going to try to attempt it... I'll keep you all posted, and maybe someone can find an alternative to getting this to work.

Well, that was about as useful as sun tanning lotion on a cold winter day...

I am going to come back in a couple days to see if anyone has come up with a solution that actually works.

Is anyone aware of any hard drive locking programs that I can use in Windows? I got the eeprom on a disc, and can manually extract the code if needed.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help! I got a girlfriend who's absolutely furious that the Xbox is dead and my relationship is suffering for it. (She don't want to play my 360, I tried that idea)

This isn't an excuse to triple post, but I tinkered, and toyed with my Xbox some more. Good news. I'm not getting an error 13 anymore... now I am getting an error 5. Can someone help me locking the hard drive? I still got that same problem as before locking it.

    Anyone?
