error 5/ locking hard drive

hey, i get an error 5 when i load my xbox in original mode, i no wat to do to get it to return to normal, i have to lock the hard drive, but is that alright are there any disadvatages or locking ur hard drive??? and should i lock it can i still unlock it if i want??

Are you softmodded or chip?? The only thing I can think of is lack of ability to write to the EEPROM if it's not chipped. But I only use Xecuter Chips so I may be only experiencing something one sided.

 

i use a chip, i have xecuter 3 and what would u use eeprom for anyway?? wat does it do??

 

Lock it. There are no special benefits of leaving it unlocked. You can use a program like xboxhdm http://www.xbox-scene.com/software-result.php to lock and unlock when you feel the need.

 

Or you could just use TeamAssembly's 'Configmagic' to get your Lock / Unlock Key. Muchless to simply lock or unlock your HDD...
