I bought a 300gb samsung hard drive off ebay, got my friend to put all the eeproms n' softmodded junk on it. i put it on his xbox, booted up fine...however i took it home and now i get error 6 (meaning it isnt locked). how did it go from being locked to unlocking itself when it hasnt even been plugged in for 3 days? suggestions

Error 6 means it's locked to something other than the eeprom in the xbox. Probably locked to HIS xbox (gah! doesn't anybody read anything!) That's a killer ain't it?

Simpre cure (edit) Do you still have your original xbox drive?..Is it untouched? If so softmod it and get the eeprom data off..DO NOT use your friends xbox for this. When you have that eeprom data go to your friend and get him to unlock your large drive with his xbox..that's all you want him to do.
Source a copy of XBOXHDM (linux software downloads page www.xboxscene.com) and read the instructions about drive locking and add eeprom.. Use the eeprom.bin file you have from YOUR now softmodded xbox to lock the big drive. Jobs done and it'll work

    Thanks,
I've just decided to simply redo it, I got everything in line and will be an easy procedure.
    Thanks anyways!
