    thread teleported to relevant forum.

a quick glance thru the logfile shows the burners' firmware isn't recognising the blank discs you're trying to use.

    - firmware is up to date - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1883
[bold]however[/bold] the firmware is too old, dated July 2004, and they've released no new firmware, so i can't see a way forward other than to buy a new drive; your firmware is integral to burning, if it's firmware can't recognise newer media you're gonna have to search high and low for 'older' media that the firmware is able to handle, but it's gonna be easier to spend a few quid/dollars and buy a new drive...

    - the details of the blanks discs aren't present; this is similar to what you should see -
    - ie a 3line paragraph when the firmware's up to date.

Your burner sounds familiar so i'll have a search thru my old replies and edit this post with any info i find...

    edit- i thought as much - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/217392/1946822
Basically your firmware is dated July 2004 so is way out of date to be expected to cope with newer media being produced 2 years later.

    Hey creaky,
Thanks for your time to reply back. By the way, i am using Memorex DVD+R media. And it was previously working fine.

I am confused whether the issue is for DVD Writer or Media
I will try to use some other media. Can writting speed impact this??

    Thanks a lot once again.

    Regards,

no problem; as per my sig, Memorex use widely differing quality in disc manufacturers, and you won't necessarily get the same discs each time you buy from companies such as Memorex, and worse still you can't tell just from looking at the tub/pack of discs whose discs are actually in the tub/pack.

So your problem is twofold, as i've said, the burner's firmware is very old, so you have to stick to discs that the firmware is able to recognise. Also the problem is the discs you're trying to use. We can help you with this a little if you run one of your previously working discs thru a free program such as DVD Identifier and paste here it's 'MID' code ie the exact disc manufacturer etc details.
However as i've also said re Memorex, it'll be a lottery as to whether you end up with any that worked previously. From the MID code however we'd know exactly which discs were working and you could then buy those, but branded as that particular manufacturer's disc instead of Memorex's discs..

Imation also feature in my sig, they're another company who uses all manner of different manufacturers' discs, and you won't be able to tell just from looking at them in the shops as to whther they're any good or whther they'll even work.
However that 8x Imation, whilst made my CMC Magnetics is the only one out of those you've tried, that is recognised by the drive. I guess you'd best stick to those, but as i say you could buy a pack one day and they may not be recognised as the firmware may not recognise them. At least you could keep the discs to one side and use them if you had a newer burner..
