    Hi guys

I have the following issue, my xbox HD broke so after getting my eeprom with a reader and using xboxhd (with 5960 dashborad files) i made a new hard disk and locked it. I then tried it in the xbox..error code 16, i decided to go back and repeat the whole process again, made another xboxhd cd with the eeprom and clean 5960 dashboard files..still the same error code 16. I have done this multiple times an still can get rid of error code 16 at all.

I dont have my origanl dashboard files as the HD just died, but i dont see this being a problem as I have a dump of my eeprom.

The system loads the flubber part and then goes straight to error 16, no microsoft logo.

Can anybody help shed some light on this highly annoying problem!

bad dash files.. simple as.. error16

You obviously aren't putting them in the right place or they are corrupt.

Do you want to know what I do to fix the old E16??.. halo2 cold boot.. go to live settings.. wait for the dash update to complete then reboot :)

Ive tried putting other dashboards on the system including shademands, still the same error 16.

Tried with halo 2 also, the game wont even boot.

Any other suggestions, im sure this is a clock issue but how do i reset it?

    No.. clock issue is error21.

Put a straight M$ dash on first because most of the so called "hacked" downloads are for softmods and contain exploit files which point at a set of dash files somewhere on E:

You did use an original halo2 I suppose?

Okay what ive been doing is putting fresh M$ dashboard files on with xboxhdm then locking the drive then getting error 16

Ive tried three different sets of supposedly working M$ dash files (one from link from chunkhead on this forum on one from slayers) and im still getting error 16

I have tried to boot an original halo 2 with no luck, error 16, the microsoft logo never even shows, the box boots absolutley nothing.

Is there a link to M$ dash files KNOWN to work?

my C drive has the following

    Audio
    fonts
    xboxdashdata.185ead00
    xodash
    Xbox.xtf
Xbox book.xtf (should there not be a space here?)
    xboxdash.xbe

    e drive has

    CACHE
    TDATA
    UDATA

    all empty

    Kernel 5101

I can't even remember what an unmodded drive looks like these days... and I don't have one about. My evox C has a file called Xbox Book.xtf.. it could be that simple.. the xbox is case sensitive.

and I don't have a link to a clean set of dash files.. they are copyright M$ files and not legal to link to... I have a set on a cd somewhere but at over 600mb's.. no chance :)

    try xbins

    Problem!!!

The xbox dashboard is digitally signed to the xbox eeprom.

If you dont have the correct version of dashboard that matches the eeprom then it won't boot and you will receive error code 16.

    This is common..

The hack that people have been using has to do with resigning the dashboard to run with the eeprom how ever this hack has been proven to work only once. and no one else has been able to recreate a working version.

A mod chip will fix it because mod chips boot any dash no matter what.
