I just played a avi file on my windows media player and it said error downloading codecs, which means I do not have a picture but I have sound. Can any one tell me how to get the codecs back so i can view my avi file and burn it to a dvd disc?

    Thanks,
    Phil

see what kind of codec you're missing and download it from www.videohelp.com or just download and install one of the multi codec packs like matroska. Some give you the option of choosing which ones you want to omit from the install.

You can look at the file extension of the clip you're trying to play (eg: avi, mpeg, ogg) and if you can't play it then you can look up the codec that you need to play it but you may as well just install them all as different files you download will be encoded differently.
