What I would like to know is: what 'movie' do you have? An AVI? A MPG? A WMV?
    What GSpot says about it?
What are you planning to do? AVI -> DVD? MPG-1(2) -> (S)VCD image?
    I need more infos...
Maybe you need a codec /(if it's an AVI) or you need to re-encode that movie (PAL <-> NTSC), I don't know...

Maybe the file's header is corrupt? Dunno, I only would try to re-encode it to AVI with VirtualDub hoping it doesn't freeze...
