Whoa! You might want to start by getting a keyboard that has punctuation marks. (.,!)

But you may want to check where your power is coming from; meaning the wall plug. DVD burning draws a LOT of power, and if you are using a spliced power connection, you may not have enough amperage going to the computer. If you are using a clean source, make sure you don't have anything but the computer and monitor drawing power.

The problem was not the power source. My computer is wired to its own 20 amp breaker.I un-installed some programs that I seldom use and freed up about 20 gigs of space on my c drive by burning my music to cds.I shut down
all the running applications I could and reduced cpu usage to 4-6%. Express seems to like to run with little or no competition.
Punctuation, sentance structure and English teachers, all very dangerous stuff! _X_X_X_X_X_[small]john[/small]

OK, at least we've eliminated that possibility. I guess the next bit of troubleshooting is to find out what software you are using, and where this error occurs. Are you using a one piece software like DVDXcopy? Or are you using other tools to rip, etc, then Nero or something like that to burn?

If you aren't using DVDXcopy, please let me know the method you use to burn a disc.

Orphius as you saw Im using xpress. After freeing up resources the program makes good copies really trouble free.I took your advise and downloaded shrink.I like the hands on approach but the copy of nero that I have only supports yamaha burners,it came with my FZ1. Ill get the version that supports my sony and see what happens. Will shrink make a copy of a copy?

hey orphius, i use DVD Shrink and you seem to be an expert on it so.....when i put a DVD in and choose it under open disc, it just freezes up and then windows says that it is not responding and it closes. I have tried both DVD decryptor and Smart Ripper to rip the DVD but both of them said that they couldn't read all the files (and yes i did play it to unlcok the files but that didn't work). so...do you have any idea what is wrong? thanks
