Anytime I try to back-up a Sony movie I get an error message that says invalid dvd structure. I am using shrink. Why is this happening? What do I need to do to override this? I was also using the anydvd in the background but the trail has expired. Thank You!!

    Hi.

Many of the Sony movies have strong structural copy protection. There are three basic approaches.

    Approach 1
Buy AnyDVD and use your other programs as you normally would.

    Approach 2 (Free)
Use Ripit4me, a free program, that uses other free programs to overcome the strong copy protection. Software links and instructions in the guides below.

    Approach 3 (Free)
    Use DVDFab Decrypter to rip.
VOBBlanker or FixVTS to cleanup the ripped files to remove blank and unreferenced cells.
    DVD Shrink to compress/reauthor.
ImgBurn or DVD Decrypter to burn.

Is there any 1 program that will do everything I need? I do not mind paying for it. I am a newbie and do not have the knowledge to have all these programs running and in what order. I was using dvd decrpter with anydvd and using imageburn to back up. Now it seems none are working and I have removed all but imageburn. What is the simplest way to back-up?

    Hi.

The reason your programs used to work was because AnyDVD was running in the background taking care of the decryption, region protection, and structural copy protection. When your AnyDVD trial ran out, DVD Decrypter could no longer, in its default mode, handle the structural copy protection.

Ripit4me is pretty automatic in wizard mode. It links the programs together and does almost everything automatically. It's easy to use so you might give that a try. To date to the best of my knowledge, there hasn't been a single title it couldn't handle.

If you were confortable before using DVD Decrypter and ImgBurn and probably DVD Shrink along with AnyDVD, then just purchase AnyDVD. It has lifetime free updates.

For a one click commercial solution, try CloneDVD 2 from Slysoft, the same people who do AnyDVD.
