Just been recommended to this fine site by a chap at work. I recently bought a FREECOM External DVD / CD Burner and i'm having tremendous problems trying to burn DVD's using Nero. Basically i am trying to copy a DVD+R disc to a DVD+RW disc. After 4 attempts i have given up !!! I'll tell you what i'm doing and please tell me if i doing anything wrong !! I am putting the DVD to be copied in my INTERNAL DELL DVD drive and the disc to copy onto into my FREECOM EXTERNAL BURNER. I am then clicking the DVD copy in Nero Express and watching what happens. It will start all ok, with message that says "Creating Image For Burning", then all will go well until it gets to 100% when i get a message come up saying "Error Reading Data" - It then spits out the REWRITABLE disc !!! Any suggestions ?? I believe its Nero 6 i'm using. Thanks in advance
@djspenna Welcome to aD! It sounds like the end of the disc you're copying from has some bad spots or the disc it's trying to write to it doesn't like. Posting your last nero log may help us sort this out. For Nero 6 it can be found at: program files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt. Just be sure to edit out your serial # - usually begin w/ 1A,1C or 5C. Log are alos separated by something like this: =====***Nero Burning Rom History***===== Just copy and paste what's in between.

Here's a few things that may help. Turn that option off. Burning on the fly is done in 'real time' - any little glitch and bang burn failed. Nothing is saved to the hard drive so the reader has no time to adjust for anything it can't handle like say a dusty/dirty disc. Not a lot of memory - free up what you can. No multi tasking and shut down any unneccesary processes while burning. The disc you are trying to burn to - not the greatest by far. Try switching to Verbatim or made in Japan Fuji, Sony or Maxell. Nero can use an update - use this version - 6.6.0.18 http://www.listsoft.com/programs/1983/?fileid=3 The biggest problem I can see is burning on the fly and read errors from the source disc - so turn that off, clean off the disc and try again. If that fails try reading and writing from the external drive. Let us know how it turns out - good, bad or otherwsie!
