Purchased the new movie Doom and want to make a backup copy of it. I have dvd x copy but it will not let me copy. Is there a program that will let me do this. I have tried a few other programs and they all come up with an error code in the reading phase.

Just what other programs have you tried? Here is a site and guide for free programs to backup your movie. Download DVDFab Decrypter and rip the movie to your HDD then process with DVD Shrink to compress and burn with either Nero if you have it or the other free program DVD Decrypter.

There is also the alternative of downloading a 21 day trial of AnyDVD which is a driver that will run in the background and break encryption. It may or may not work with Xcopy, that is dependant on the ver. you have. You can also use this program to run in the background with DVD Shrink, then rip your movie using Shrink and burn with whatever program you wish to use.

I have tried DVD Shrink along with Any DVD and DVD Decryter and have still not able to copy the movie. I have search the net and have heard from more then one person thatthe movie has been reported to have a flaw when it was made. They say to take it back and you may get one that does not have any bad sectors. I have tried so many different ways and no success yet. Any ideas.

You are right there seems to be some people who are having difficulties with this movie. I have not had any problems and AnyDVD does not show that there is anything too special on the movie only the usual Universal ARccOS. You can try ripping again with DVD[bold]FAB[/bold] Decrypter and then running this file through the free program VobBlanker, this should remove any suspect cells. You can get the program here

    http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/software.htm

Just do three steps and VobBlanker will clean the movie, then run that file through Shrink. The input folder is your ripped Doom file, the output is a folder you create to put your cleaned file, then just hit process. Open Shrink and choose the file folder you created.

Or you can try another program called FixVTS this also will clean suspect cells, I have not tried it but I hear it works very well.

If you are still having difficulties after this then take the movie back and get another disk. Good luck :)

I guess it is a lost cause. I tried it again but I can not get the movie to the stage to run it as Dvdfab stops copying it at the same pot in the movie. I will have to take it back and hope I get one that will let me copy it.
