Hi, I'm attempting to burn a data DVD-ROM, but keep getting an error. I'm using the Nero software included with the external Sony DVD/CD RW drive (Model No: DRX-710UL). I've noticed that other people with problems post the log file, so here's mine. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Oh, the error messages I receive are:

Could not perform end of disk-at-once.
    Could not perform End session.
    Burn process failed at 2.4x

Again, thanks for any and all help.

Perhaps, you might want to upgrade your 710A firm ware, it's latest is "BYX4" -- this will support writing performance and reliability. To upgrade, go here: http://sony.storagesupport.com - however, the choice is yours.

Looks like you're backing up on a "RITEK DVD+R DL media," but I look through the "error log" and didn't see/say anything about the second layer. Did you set in "Nero" to burn as a DVD9 or DVD5? If you already did set in DVD9, then I, too, am clueless.

Maybe this is the problem. Did you burned the data from a HD or from a straight DVD(Data) disc? Maybe the data/file/dvd disc you're trying to burn from is bad or anything i.e. corrupted or scratched.

I may be wrong though, plus I'm not an "expert" on Nero and its stuff, so hopefully someone with more knowledge will be able to resolve this for you.

I had a similar problem with trying to burn TDK DVD-R media. I called TDK and customer service told me there is an inherent problem that Nero has with burning DVD-R's. Perhaps try some other burning software. I use Roxio and it works fine.

Hi all, thanks for the great feedback. I was able to successfully burn a CD and a dual layer DVD on my Mac using Roxio Toast 6, so maybe it is the Nero burning software. Funny though, this drive isn't "supported" for the Mac, yet it's the only computer that it works on for me. :) I'll see if I can't find some other burning software to use for the PC.

I did upgrade the firmware as suggested, but still encountered the same problem. And I'm burning data from the HD, not another DVD disc. In fact, I'm not attempting to burn a movie or anything like that, it's a Norton Ghost image for work.

If there are any other suggestions, I'll be glad to hear them. This forum is great, so many knowledgeable people. :)

Oh, I did notice one other weird little quirk, not sure if it's related or not. After upgrading the firmware, I can choose what speed to burn the DVD at, and also the checkbox for simulation is available. After my failed burn though, the only speed I can burn at is 2.4x, and the simulation check box is grayed out. Even after restarting the computer. Do you think this is related?
