I am attempting to copy a movie. About 5 minutes in it gives me an error message stating "One or more blocks might be corrupted by a prior copying device or by the source device covering critical errors. Try copying the video files to your harddrive (again) and retry". How do I correct this. This occurred with two different movies so I believe its the system. HELP??

Need more details to help out on this one. Sounds like a bad press, or dirty/scratched DVD to me though. What are you using to decrypt?
CloneDVD 2 will not copy "protected" discs.

Would one be disc 2 of toy story 2? Like bunnyrip said clonedvd can't do copy protected discs. So make sure your running the latest anydvd 5.8.4.1 w/ clonedvd.

I am getting the exact same error:
One or more blocks might be corrupted by a prior copying device or by the source device covering critical errors. Try copying the video files to your harddrive (again) and retry

I am trying to copy The Shield season 1 disk 1.

I am new to this so my process may be wrong but I just downloaded the DVD clone and Any DVD two days ago so they are current.

As I understand it AnyDVD runs in the background. I launch DVDClone and try to copy to the hard drive. After several minutes the above error comes.
I am using all the default settings. Do I need to make some adjustments because the original DVD is episodal? I have a DL burner so I don't think I need to use shrink.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

with DVD's most of them are dual layed movies including TV Sereies whixh mean they are about 6gigs and over soo whatever u doo u may need to use DVD Shrink to compress on too a single layered disc which is 4.7gigs and u would need to do that if u don used Dual layered media.

C if u can use CloneDVD 2 plus dont forget to get DVDFab Decrypter to decrypt the files better...

I am going to copy to a DL media. These means I can skip the shrink process as I understand it. (please correct me if I am wrong)

I thought if I used ANYDVD I don't need DVDFab Decrypter?

I will try AnyDVD 5.9.1.1 I was unaware of the update, thank you.
    Hopefully AnyDVD 5.9.1.1 will fix:
One or more blocks might be corrupted by a prior copying device or by the source device covering critical errors. Try copying the video files to your harddrive (again) and retry

Thanks for the help. I'll let you know the results

If for some reason the latest anydvd does not work on this disc then use dvdfab decrypter - just make sure you turn off anydvd if ripping w/ fab decrypter.
If you are copying to dl media than no need to run thru shrink.
Anydvd in my experience can handle anything out there. Best if used w/ clonedvd2.
    Keep us posted!

    tried AnyDVD 5.9.1.1 with DVDClone.
I still get the error message:
One or more blocks might be corrupted by a prior copying device or by the source device covering critical errors. Try copying the video files to your harddrive (again) and retry

I will try fab decryptor next

You can try clonedvd2 - free 21 day trial. Tou can download it also from slysoft's website. The combo of anydvd and combo is usually unstoppable. It has yet to fail me!

tried AnyDVD 5.9.1.1 with CloneDVD2. I still got the error message I stated above.

So I disabled AnyDVD and used dvdfab decrypter. This worked however the quality is so poor the movie is unwatchable. (constant stopages and skips)
Am I just trying to copy a very difficult to beat decryption???
The Shield season 1 disk 1. Is this disk copyable???

    @MrBaker
When u used DVDFab Decrypter what exactly did u use after that??
Did u use DVD Shrink?? U must use that to compress the discs content soo that it can fit on a single layred disc.

Plus AnyDVD is still a good lil program that is needed but sometimes u dont soo what u did was correct u must try a few combinations with or without it too see which one works for u...

I forgot to ask what media are u using?? good media is important e.g. Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim

Also make sure when ur burnning on too disc its at maxs 4x and not at the fastest speed possible, this is when u get jummpy and bad copies...

AnyDVD 5.9.1.1 has a built-in ripper (right click the little red fox).
Now is the time to use it. ;-)

I really appreciate the help on this.

I used dvdfab decrypter. Then used clonedvd2. I am using Fuji DL media on a LG GSA-4166B drive. Because I am using DL media I am not using shrink.
I set clonedvd2 to 4x write but still the copy was terrible.

I am going to attempt to watch the dvd on my computer. My thought is if the dvd plays skipped on the computer my LG GSA-4166B drive might be the culprit. Let me know if this logic is flawed. I just bought this drive and this is my first copy attempt so I can't be sure anything is working properly.

P.S. All my Fuji DL disks are ruined through this process so I will go and buy verbatim DL disks they seem to have the most positive feedback on this forum.

@MrBabar Do you have Nero? If you're gonna copy to DL disc you can just open DVD copy portion of Nero. AnyDVD will strip the DRMs.No recoding is done and the entire disc is copied to the DL disc. Can actually be done on the fly with two separate drives or not. I would let it burn to the HDD and then copy tho. EZCD Creator will do the same in its copy DVD portion.

Yes and No - Make sure your drives firmware is up to date - the latest is 1.01.
The helps your drive w/ read and write strategies on media esp the new stuff. I would also reduce the burn speed down to 2.4x.
Players are picky w/ dual layer so slow it down a bit, update firmware if needed and try the verbs.

I upgraded the firmware but this did not help. I returned the LG drive for a sony.
As far as I can tell LG is a good drive I just got a bad one. I would expect lots of complaints on this forum if LG was a bad company. But anyway, I am able to play and copy with my Sony drive using DVDFab Decrypter.
I watched my copyied video's and they appear to be good quality. So finally after weeks of struggling and trying every software on this forum DVDFab Decrypter was able to copy The Shield Season 1 with a Sony drive. I suspect my bad drive was the source of most of my trouble.
My new problem is I am unable to burn.
Using Clone DVD2 I get the error "write to video media not successful. Source data too large. This writer is not capable of writing the source data as requested. To write these DVD files please use the copy DVD tittles or clone DVD option from the start screen."
I am using verbatum DL media. The source is only about 7.5 G. I don't think I should need to shrink it as DL media holds 8.5 G.
I tried the clone DVD option and get the same error.
Any ideas as to what is happening??

doesn't sound like it was just the drive. my LG purrs along. If you have Nero or EZMedia creator you can use the copy DVD option I know with AnyDVD and probably with DVDFab Decrypter(I don't use it so not sure)to a Verb DL disc You're right you don't need to shrink the files.

Make sure your have dvd9 picked in clonedvd though you probably already do.
Another option to try is decrypter - rip in iso then burn in iso mode picking the .mds file shrink created. If you don't want to re rip then take the video_ts folder and run it thru shrink - set shrink to dvd9 also then after you click burn under select target backup pick burn w/ decrypter.
