I have been trying to backup my dvd's for the past 4 days and I have been able to backup one (out of the 35). I thought that it was the media I was using b/c as advised by others on this site cheap media is NOT the way to go. First, I had Nero, but was told to drop that and use DVD shrink and DVD decrypter. This was the program that burnt my first and only DVD. Well after that DVD burnt now my burner will not read or write DVD's it freezes in the middle of the process. I've troubleshooted by DVD writer and my system says its working fine. So I thought maybe it was the software and now I have ANYDVD, Clone2, 321 DVD copy and I seem to encounter the same problem. DVD decrypter did give me the following error message: I/O error Device [0:0:0](F CDB 1200 00 00 FC 00 Interpretation Inquiry Reason: The semaphore timeout period has expired. What does this mean!!!!!!!

So you get the same problem regarless of the media brand ? VSO Inspector v1.1 --> http://www.vso-software.fr/ can provide you with the model of your burner, and firmware revision.
