ETA for iXtreme 1.6 (5-14-09)!! iXtreme 1.51 + JF 0.1.59.

HOW did all of you guys mod your xbox 360? i.e. put new firmware on it, ive been trawling google for aggges and cant find a way to do it, is the only way by taking it apart and connecting the drive to a pc? Also with this new firmware, does the dash and everything stay the same?

Obviously you haven't searched hard enough... Anyways, the only way to flash the drives, is by taking the drive out of the system, and flashing it with the iXtreme Firmware. Nothing on the dashboard or anything like that is affected by it.

 

Awsome thanks, so is it true i need to buy a connectivity kit, also whats the deal with live, can i still play normal games on there? im going to put iextreme 1.51 on there.

 

Ok, you only need the connectivity kit if your system is a liteon. In fact you don't need to buy that at all, you can make the tool yourself, which if you're new to soldering, might not be best for you.

Games will play just fine on Xbox Live (originals, and backups). If you want to play newer games, make sure to update to the 1.51 iXtreme!

 

ok im pretty sure i dont have a light on, i think i have a benq, so do i just use a sata cable to connect it to my pc? and then use jungle flasher to do the rest

Hiya i currently have ixtreme 1.51 installed on my xbox, would i need to update to firmware 1.6 to play future games or will 1.51 be ok?

Please bear in mind that i dont go on xbox live to play games and only connect to live to download additional content such as map packs from the marketplace. So therefore if 1.6 is only security updates and does not have any compatibility updates to play future game would i need it at all if i don't play on xbox live?

so i think we know what ssV2 means now. It has to do with the new disc copy protection most likely. This is just me attempting to add 2+2 and getting 4 not definitve so keep your eyes peeled for confirmation

oh and if that is true then 1.6 may be required afterall

but how do i know what brand of drive i am flashing? will i be able to tell just by opening up the xbox?

 

you have to peck on the top of case three times and then hold your ear close to the back of your xbox, you will hear a voice telling you what drive is inside the case followed by full instructions on how to flash the drive with the latest ixtreme firmware.

 

It is 3 pecks?? Darn.. I was only doing 2 this whole time.. no wonder I haven't been able to find out what drive I have.

 

Hmm, interesting on the 1.6. Thought it was just for ripping, but if it adds more security, I'm for it. I am assuming it will be out soon? Anyone have a date?

What exactly is the new Support for SS V2! part for? Future games?

 

I think the reason they are waiting longer is the NEXT round of games come out May 9th I believe, UFC and some other games . At that point they can test out which will assumable is 3rd wave disc. I say the longer the wait the better the patch 1.6 will be. Cause theretically it would take MS and devs 1 more year to produce Wave 4!

well I knew a 9 was involved. BUt I figure these next releases should assit the firmware team more to confirm thier results.

Someone answer this, the last update of info prov from what C4eva said, all the info hes adding, security etc. What makes it better then 1.51? Im asking cause alot of that info is above my skill set.
