Ok im using a catgory 6 male to male ethernet crossover cable 10/100mbps and both of them work with my laptop but when i try to connect them both together they dont get recognised. Also the only game that works is Counter Strike on LAN,and only my Laptop can Host,My laptop also cant host on Hearts of Iron, or Warcraft 3,My laptop has to be the host but thats really getting annoying.Only Counter Strike Works and all other games such as Empire Earth 2, Serious Sam 2, Warcraft 3, Hearts of Iron,Dawn of War and all my other games dont seem to work with LAN.My Warcraft 3 wont let my laptop play on lan.And my Windows Xp versions were installed when i got it,so i dont have my own windows xp.can someone please help me with this, i have experience with building pcs from scratch but dont have any network skills.
does all that mean that they use the automatic private address and u can copy files if yes: then go to the network connections folder local area network>properties hit the install button if u don't have the IPX protcol installed and click protcol choose IPX...... if u have it installed then ur problem is so damn wierd
thanks ok ive made a shared folder which works between the computer and laptop,but i cant find the IPX your talking about.Is there any other advice that might help? Like only Counter Strike and its Mods work on LAN cause my Laptop has to host and my computer can connect,but when i try other games such as Dawn of War,Battlefield 1942,Serious Sam 2,Empire Earth 1 & 2 and Many more as The Laptop is the Host my PC cant regonise any games on the server, and when i play Hearts of Iron or Warcraft 3 my Laptop cant choose the LAN button. Seems there might be some problem in the way.Ive also turned all firewalls off. Remember im Usaing a Male to Male Catergory 6 Ethernet Cable.
i wasn't around for a while just install the IPX protocol 1.open network connections 2.properties of the connection your talking about 3.hit the install button 4.choose protocol 5.choose IPX blah blah 6.u can do the rest for sure
