ethernet limited or no connectivity

    hi there i have a problem i am on ntl and the usb cable works fine but when i use the ethernet cable it says limited or no connnectivity. i was using the built in one that came with my pc however i bought a new ethernet card today and fitted it hoping that this will fix the problem and nothing it still says limted or no connectivity plzzz help me this is sooo frustrating as i really want to connect using ethernet so i can move my computer into a different room. thanks anyone

    thanks alot but that didnt work any other suggestions ?

    I'm assuming you are hooking up straight to the modem?

    Is your pc set to have its IP assigned automatically? If so, power up the PC, turn off the modem, tehn plug the ethernet cord in. Once ths is done, then power on the modem and see what happens. Power cycling the modem can fix a lot of these goofy things.
