Sorry if this question is answered already somewhere else in the forum but I have been looking for days now and can't seem to find a direct answer to my problem.

I have a Eurovox Max 2007 that I aquired via a friend. When I got it the channels flickered a lot and then went to 'no signal'. I checked and updated the software and now have software version 1.0 STC4 Oct 01 2007. The problem still exists.

I have tried all the various tuning tweaks offered on this site but none seem to have an effect. I also tried the factory reset. I get two choices (symbol rate 6952 and 6887). If I do 6887 I get the 8% problem. If I do 6952 I get loads channels but they all start to breakup virtually immediately.

    Any advice beyond bin it?

Ok first you will need to find out if you have a genuine or a clone

"If you look into the grills on the top of the b0x and see a ribbon cable it is a genuine b0x.
If you see a load of individual white cables it is a clone"

If it is a clone then do a factory reset first, Press menu config, clear data.

Then load the March firmware using dnupman or voxer

All these an be found in the link at the bottom of my post in Eamo's Library

    Its Genuine!

I have just put March Software on anyway and am performing a Power Scan. Level and quality of most frequencies is perfect. It drops down every now and again but I assume these are un-used frequencies??

I will post as soon as it is back up again

No - its still the same

It scans and picks up all the channels no problem but when you watch any channel it breaks up and goes to no signal then back to the broken up picture.

If No Signal appear it has something to to with the Cable Company Provider

Are you using it from the main feed or a splitter

Have stripped off all my splitters used a new cable and connected direct to the feed. I happen to know that my feed is at the highest rating (28dB) in the cab in the street cos I had a quick look while an engineer was working on it (a bit excessive seen as the cab is across the street)

Problem still exists!! It breaks up all the time on every channel but will scan no problem and pick up over 200 channels when I factory reset.

Will JTAG make any difference, or is that only for when the box is completely dead?

Also, my modem and legit box work fine on this connection - does that have any bearing on the situation

No need to jtag as its only for dead boxes

I would say if you are sure its a genuine one then put the Sept firmware onto it
You will find this in Eamo's Library at the bottom of my post in the Eurov0x firmware folder (UFL_MAX_RED_01_10_07.rar)

You will need WinRar to extract this file , this is also available in Eamo's library here

Surely the UFL_MAX_RED_01_10_07.rar is October and not September!!!?

This is the same firmware I started the thread with....

    Formerly N*L, but

PROBLEM SOLVED or identified at least

I failed to perform one of the most basic tests. I took the box round to a friends house and plugged it in. Guess what, it worked perfectly.

At least this thread should be of use to others who are having similar problems....

I'm just off to dig up my garden now to see if the main feed is damaged. Thanks for all your help!!!
