    1. Go to the Start Menu
    2. Right click on "My Computer"
    3. Select "Properties"
    4. Click on the "Hardware" tab
    5. Click on "Device Manager"
    6. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)"
    7. One of the listed ports marked "serial" should be set on either COM1, COM2, COM 3 or COM 4,

    8. You should be able to transfer data once the correct port is selected

To assign to the correct com/port,
Right click on that port and select properties. Then select port settings, then select advanced. At the bottom of that tab will be a drop down box with the port selected change that to 1,2 or 3. Use the drop down to select another port (eg 1, 2 or 3). If the port you want to use is already allocated to something else, you can use the same procedure to reassign that port after you have finished.
Save the selections in the usual way.

I'm on may way out so wont reply for a while but if you get this right it should work fine.

I followed the instructions and tried all 4 ports, before com port 3 said it was in use but when i tried all ports(1-4) following the same instructions, i went to press download on the firmware updater and it and now it asks what port i want to use and when i select 1,2 or 4 it says "COM port not available" so it leaves me with just com port3 and then it just says "waiting for the response of your reciever"

I went to restore to factory settings and seems that even though it says "downloading is failed" it actually did download it and it all works, thank you for your help
