I've just purchased a Eurovox 5000pvr and I've flashed it with the latest firmware 1.1v, I've just moved into a new house and they used to have a Virgin cable box, thats gone but the cable is still there. I've hooked it up to the Eurobox and the first thing I noticed is that it makes a buzzing sound on the TV so I dont know if thats right for a start, the next thing is when I scan for channels it finds everyone I think but when I try to watch them the picture goes on and off saying bad or no signal, I've checked on the quality of the signal and it jumps from 85% to 20% to 90% and so on, Am I doing anything wrong?
    Thanks

think you will need to subscribe to the basic package

Is that how it works? Does virgin boost the signal when you subscribe and make it weak when you dont?

of course, try putting the coaxil cable in the back of your box and see what you get,but without a digital subscribtion you can't use the box.

I do get all the channels but they go on and off, I've been talking to people who dont subscribe to anything its just there from when they used to have it. Is that bullsh** or can you do that with certain cables in certain houses?

no you need a digital subscribtion over here (Ireland)if iwas to cancel my subsribtion i can still pick up our own home grown stations, but the box would be useless its the same in your neck of the woods.
