I bought this off ebay and it came with cable etc, I installed the correct firmware for it plugged it up to the tv, Now a signal bar is at the bottom and its staying at 8 percent ? Anyway i have done a deep scan and it finds over 300 channels but most if not all have a bad problem with sound chirping and pixel problems. I live in Renfrew, Scotland and scanned it on the Glasgow frequency 6.887 for ntl but i actually stay outside just Glasgow nearer Paisley. Do i need the code for Paisley ? If so does anyone have it ? If anyone can give me any help on this sebject please get back to me as soon as you can, Thanks
Your symbol rate is fine otherwise you wouldn't find any channels, what is your signal strength in % on the affected channels press info twice? also out of curiosity can you press menu, config, system info and tell us what it says in there.
Hi here is the info you requested, Channel 5 is one of the badly affected channels here is the info on it, Level and quality are moving to and from 77-81 % at the same time, freq - 483.00, modulator qam65 Here is what it reads when i go in to System info. Model - DVB-XC BOXS TDA S/W Ver - 1.0 ST4 AUG 22 2008 H/w Ver - 2.0 ts Bootstrap - V001 S/w Build - Kuro Some channels work fine but there are a lot that that dont
Go back to menu, config, clear data, ok, enter 0000 do a factory default then, Menu, Installation, user installation, 0000 yellow for powerscan, Fill your installation setting as above, then ok to scan. If this doesn't work I would suggest buying a booster with variable gain. B&Q or the likes do the Labgear one which should be sufficient. Your problem looks to be a unbalanced signal.
This is just an idea to help solve your problem: 1) Check the ntl box coming into your house i.e.on the wall near telly should be a white box from which the cable goes ito your digibox. Make sure it is secure. 2) Ensure that your scart leads are in correctly and fit tightly, some problems such as poor picture quality, loss of sound occur due to loose scart leads. 3) On the box coming into your house there may be two splitter connections. One with existing cable, and another possibly with no cable attached. Swap the cable around and see if this boosts the signal. 4) Then try the procedures as outlined in hitech's list.
Tried it all, Still no luck Well i tried a signal booster but it was not an adjustable one, I bought this box for when i move in to my new flat soon so il try it there, then buy a signal booster if still no joy. Thanks guys
That would be the best idea, your signal strength is fine but it is jumping around too much on the affected channels (77-81), chances are it will work ok in your new flat providing the cable feed is live.
