    Hi all,

    First post, yippee!

I am living in Dublin, Ireland and was hoping to purchase one of these either the Eurovox EX1000SL or Eurovox EX5000PVR but I am unsure which will work?

So I decided to ask the experts, I have NTL (UPC) at present and have seen posts about different versions based on the signal recieved. Which of these boxes would you recommend and do you need to do anything but take it out of the box and plug it in?

    Was thinking of either:

    or

    Thanks for all your help

The EX1000SL is the newer (slimmer) box, but the EX5000 has the option of the hard drive to record onto, so depends on which you prefer.

If you point the remote control into a digital camera/mobile phone lens then look at the LCD as if you were going to take a picture of the remote when you press a button on the remote and hold you will see the LED on the remote flash if its ok, I presume you have tried new batteries otherwise just send it back for a replacement.
