    Hi there,

I got the above box from flecebay 1 month ago.

It worked fine for 2 weeks, then one day I heard 3 small pops and the box turned it's self off.

I wont turn back on and power cable is fine.

I've had a look through this forum and came accross the C14 cap that can blow.

My board looks slightly different (photos below)

I have tried the seller but he it no replying and giving me fake no's to phone so i was gnona scrap the box til I found this forum.

Hoping someone might be able to give me some advice on any steps to take next.

    Many thanks
    Bon

EX 5000 dead already!!! bit soon for a cap problem surley. does the c14 cap look swollen or any leaks and whats the rating, also does anything look burnt on either the PSU or main board.

    Edit, just noticed something,

What is that near the big cap.

    Hi mate,

It just looks like some sort of glue, I think I've seen it on some other photo's.

No idea how to test the board :(

I noticed flecebay sell replacement boards for the v max, but not the ex5000.

    Total at a loss. . . .

    Bon

Email the seller off ebay and ask if there PSU are ok for the EX5000 pvr, got to say it looks the same and has the same size plug but it may need more power/amp for the HDD, all you can do is ask. I know the outputs on the EV max V are,

    30V
    ground,
    22V,
    5V,
    12V,
    8V,
    Ground,
    3.3V,
    ground.

BTW can you put the sellers username up from ebay who sold you this ex5000 so other members can avoid.
