My Eurovox EX5000 does not record anymore since the last update with UFL EX5000 06-12-08 [Autosort Feature. I get a message displaying that "Please wait recording is starting". But there is no recording carried out. I have some recording on the hard disk from the previous Firmware. I have tried few times flushing the box with no joy. If any suggestion I will b every grateful.
Hello HiTeck, I did exactly as you have suggested and I regret to say that I turned off the box and took the hard drive out and switched on the box. I then turned off the box and re inserted the hard drive and switched on the box with no joy. I know the hard drive is working as the recording on it I can play them. Please any other suggestion will well appreciate. Thank you.
Make sure the HDD is pushed in all the way and do a factory default including deleting saved recordings powerscan and then try again.
Hello Hi Teck, I have carried out your instructions by deleting all recordings from the hard drive and restoring to the factory default. I then powerscan all the channels and tried again and it time worked fine. I am sure now it is the updated firmware has a bug which causing the recording problems. I need to re download some other file then UFL EX5000 06-12-08 [Autosort Feature] and will try again. I hope I will be able to find alternative file. Thank you for your kind help.
There is an earlier fix here which is without auto-sort so if you use the Fav sort feature it wont work with this firmware and you will have to sort them yourself. Personally I don't think its a firmware problem. Do you turn your box off at night at the mains or switch at the back if you don't I would suggest you do in future, leaving the box in standby for too long can cause problems with the hard drive when booting out of standby.
Hello Teck, I have used the early version with the same problems. It is working with factory default. I now have reloaded the autosort firmware and the hard drive worked but not for long and it just stopped after 7 minutes or so it is just a mystery. I will from now on switch off from the mains it makes sense as you have suggested. It is very peculiar the hard drive works fine in factory default mode. I have tested it by recording a film from film4 for more than two hours. Well thank you so much for your help. Best regards.
