Hi all wondering if you can help me out with a problem that a few people seem to be having. i have a eurovox ex5000, and have spent about 5 hours trying to flash it with the new firmware, but not getting anywhere, just the message "waiting for the response of your receiver". I have tried both my laptop using XP with a USB to serial adaptor conected to a null modem cable, set as port com1, the device is recognised no problem in the device manager, but when i try to download the firmware it does not find the receiver. i have changed the port number and BPS rate for the port but no luck, i have also tried various combinations of unplugging and replugging the receiver while performing the download with no luck. I have also tried using my desktop again with XP, with just the null modem cable connected to the receiver, again using different ports and unplugging and reconnecting the box but to no avail. I have also tried 2 versions of the firmware, but am getting exactly the same problem with both the only other thing I can try is a new cable, but i was hoping someone may have had the same problems and found a soloution. I know that there are many other similar threads on this subject, but have tried them all and none of the solutions i have found have worked. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer me
Are you SURE it a Null modem cable? if your unsure get a new one as no other kind work, as you have connected via xp with only the cable providing your COMS/PORTS are configured correctly it should be fine so without being there its the only suggestion I can offer.
I ordered it off ebay as a null modem cable, other than the fact they may possibly have sent out the wrong cable I'm pretty sure that's what i have
