I am looking for a bit of advice. I live in Soctland so dont have any issues with receiving channels. I have been looking at the the Eurovox HD box which I am interested in getting. I have had a Eurovox Max 08 for a couple of years now and fancy the HD option. I am on virgi n medi a and noticed when I done a scan to get ESPN its now picking up a few HD channels. BBC, Channel 4, MTV. I watch alot of football and since ESPN are showing in HD I fancy getting the box. Can someone confirm if the ESPN HD channel can be picked up as I cant seem to find it. Also what do people of the HD box think. Is it worth the money? Hopefully someone can give me advice Thanks
am the same as you mate, same supplier and live in scotland, am thinking off ordering me ex7000hd box, ive got a older eurovox and scanned it the other day and got espn hd, so i think the ex7000hd should get it no prob
to be honest, in the UK I would say yeah, go for it, in Ireland no as they wont work Check this link for good sellers http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-59/only_boxs_working_in_ireland_hints_and_tips-updated-782583/
Can anyone confirm that you can only record the channel your watching? or can you record one channel but watch another
I have just purchased an EX7000 HD and upgraded from Max V (which is a great box) I find the channel change on the EX7000 slower to respond and sometimes can freeze. Other than that the box is larger than the Max V, and does not look as good as the pictures or as good as the Max V, although it tells you which channel you are watching on its display. However I cant complain regarding the picture quality. The HD channels are a pleasure to watch, at present going off memory I am receiving the following in HD - BBC, ESPN, Channel 4, Nat Geo, MTV and Living (previews). With regard to whether it is worth the money, depends on how much usage you will get out of it. If you are to buy one, better to buy sooner rather than later and get as much use as you can. Hope this helps
Hi, been thinking bout getting the eurovox hd box as well, I'm currently running the starview 4 super usb, 1 thing I really liked about it is that it keeps the channels in the correct order the same as on the virgin box, will the eurovox hd do this as well or am I gunna need to be a total saddo & re-programme them into the order I want? If so can this be backed up easily, as I know a few bods that are after an hd box & I don't want to arrange the channels for each of them? Yeah, I'm a saddo, but it's the only info I can't seem to find on any of the forums! Thanks in advance,
Being somebody in dublin who has had mine since February here are my comments: EPG Programme info (storyline of the programme you're watching) is non existant. there is none. something essential of which still to this day is after 7-8months the makers have still not realeased any update to fix this or any other updates for that matter. Its dissapointing and annoying. It can't scan .5 of a mhz (ie. 1050.5mhz becomes 1050 & 1060) This unfortunately results in duplicating the channels which very frustrating and annoying! alankfc02: yes. it can only record the channel you are watching. andyamn: Another dissapointment. unfortunatly you will not be able the keep the same channel order as per your service provider. ex7000 can only sort order by frequency or alphabetically by channel name(which is actually handy). Sound is kinda noisy like interference. manufacturer has done absolutely nothing to fix anything which shows how much they value us buying their boxes. Other than that its a good box with good picture quality. Regards, Tones.
Cheers tonytones. Defo no-go on manually rejigging the channels or downloading the order they are in then?
Hi, andyamn yes. you can manually jig them into order you wish one by one but this obviously would take quite some time... Tones.
Thanks for the tip Tonytones! I took the safe option & let my brother buy 1, he's baffled by a scart cable so I was left 2 do the honours & set it up. I'm used 2 the software & set up on the starview boxes & found the eurovox 2 be a bit of a pain in comparison, got it working fine now tho, with 1 exception, FX HD remains a scrambled channel, all the others work fine, anyone else having this problem? does it use a different encryption or something?? Baffled!! Mrluvaluv, No sky HD channels as yet, supposedly there is a 3 month wait in England 2 get Sky HD, so if sky released them on2 cable, they would lose all the customers they won when they took Sky1 etc, off cable for a year, they will milk every customer they can on2 their HD before the let it on2 cable, obviously it will come, but I don't expect 2 c it for a year anyway. Only HD channels available thru cable @ the moment R, Ch4HD, BBCHD, MTVNHD, FXHD, ESPNHD & National GeographicHD, Obviously that list will grow, Living is about 2 go HD as well, but for the time being, Sky want 2 keep the party 2 themselves as much as possible!!!!
Hi All, I've been behind the scenes here a few times but never got as far as joining. This post got me though... So the HD boxes don't work very effectively in Ireland? I've been looking at purchasing either the above mentioned HD box or a Linux based (non HD) iTGate with a network port. I was siding with the HD option but this thread has now put a spanner in the works... My question. Are the Irish issues with the 7000's firmware based (leading to me assuming that a possible fix will become available as these boxes grow in popularity)? And, putting aside the poor menu issues, are there problems directly related to the HD channels?
in one word, N3. No firmware to get around it and looking more likely there wont (being a realist here, some are still saying our fathers each night) All HD content is on N3, there is no fix for N3, so for yourself, its a waste of time. Now to go the HD route, there are some other options to you, there are HD Linux boxs which when connected to the correct sources, if you are going the way of Linux, go look at the HD option rathur than the ITGATE, which is a fine box, google skywonder or wizzard sat and you will see whats out there, but as stated, HD on cable in Ireland as is, is a non runner using a cable box
Can the users who live in scotland tell me what there Sky Premier channel's frequency is, Im having great difficulty finding it along with Discovery channel. THanks
Hi Aztecdaz, Do they not vary from area to area? I think they do. Can I assume that you have some form of SD box, prior to getting the HD? If you're using a starview, then the details all flash up on screen when you move to a channel, they show up on the OSD. Can't be sure if eurovox SD boxes do the same. Hopefully that is of some help. Andyamn.
Hi Andy, thanks for the reply, I do have a Eurovox max downstairs which picks up the channels without a problem. However I have the Ex7000 Upstairs and i cannot for the life of me, get it to work. Ive tried just about everything from inputing the frequency to a full deep scan. I dont know what the problem could be. I think i will try and swap the boxes over, although they both run off the same feed from Virgin.
Hi Aztecdaz Have you tried disconnecting the E max completely while running the scan on the HD box? Dunno if there is anything in it, but someone else on here in a different thread, had two boxes & reckoned he managed to find all the channels except for the channel that was being watched on the other box at the time(hopefully that makes sense). Must be worth a try, especially if you are on the verge of swapping boxes over.
You didn't say if you're in uk or ire, but leaving aside n3 channels I myself believe all the other issues are all fixable by new firmware. However, Since last and only UPGRADE firmware was last march and this is now coming into october (7 months later) with no new UPGRADE firmware released means I won't be holding my breath. Its a darn shame too as overall even with its flaws its still actually quite a good box which has left me extremely disappointed with the manufacturer for not releasing basic firmware fixes. regards tones
