    Hi

I've had a Eurovox for about 12 months and the remotes stopped working, I've tried all the connections, and the remote works with the Digital camera trick. Im concidering trying a flash to see if that cures the problem but dont know which to use as all the curent information points to Eurovox Max. My box seems to be an old unit with the round main button rather than the star shaped Max. The inside matches all the pictures for an original, White ribbon cable and silver connector 12 slots long. If I flash it and the remote still does not work will I be able to downlaod my channels again.....

Sounds like a 2006 model, did it come in a blue box. Regards your channels why not upload them to your pc first and have them save before you flash. If you verify that its a genuine 2006 model I can point you in the direction you need.

When you say you tried all the connections, did you open the box and check the IR sensor.

It didn't come in a box, it was a second hand one. The infared sensor is Soldered to the PCB, like a tripod shape. It changes over ok on the box but my main concern comes if I need to Auto Scan etc.

I've looked at several links with pictures and Im sure its a 2006 Eurovox but the picture had the box with the new front. The insides matched though.

I was going to flash with ( Eurovox Max Blue Box 19.2.07 )

If its a genuine 2006 model you can flash it with the latest firmware UFL_MAX_BLUE_01_10_07.rar, you will find this in Eamos FTA Library, (Eurovox Firmware Folder), at the end of my post.

Do a factory reset before flashing.
It is a UFL, (unified firmware loader), just unwrap it and press download, when it says reset, unplug EV and plug it back in. It will then begin download, let it run until it says complete.

As said I would upload your channel data file to your pc before you flash it and then download it back to your box after flash, using the UFL.

Menu, config, clear data. But do as said and upload your channel data to your pc first.

Just plucked up the courage to do the Factory Reset but when I went throught the process it asked me for the PIN, remote not working... But while I was there I got this info if it helps.

    Model DVB-XC Box
    S/W Ver 1.0 SSN4 Nov25 2005
    H/W Ver 2.0 Nov 25 2005
    bootstrap V002

what would happen if I flashed without the reset ? ps. I've stored the channel info.

    God Damn Newbies.

Jesus thats old firmware :) I always recommend a factory reset, not because of just updating the firmware but because you may duplicate channels. But as you cannot get into it, you could try it without one. You are 100% sure its a 2006 model, if its not it will say "not fit for this receiver" when you try to flash with the latest 2006 file.

12 slot tuner would indicate its a 2006.

Sorry for delay, Sleep got in the way,

Its a Silver box with round buttons, but as Scouser said it matches the desciption of a 2006 apart from the front panel being Silver and the flip down panel is a thin peice of plastic.

Now as you said its silver this sounds like an old EV1 which pre dates the 2006 model, I will have a look for some firmware for you, but you may already have the latest for that model. Do not flash it with any other firmware.

BTW these are as I said quite dated.

Sorry just heading to the pub :) I would recommend a Eurovox Max V, presume you are in the UK so google affordablesat, good prices and after sales. Only genuine boxes sold there.
