Check the C14 cap on the PSU board first.

I'm not sure which one that is though - I presume it's on the power supply board but where?

    Ok
Better check the capacitor that sc0user mentioned first, its on the power supply board and the capacitors usually have their number written on the board in white. BTW you don't say why you are jtagging

I am jtagging because on my display all I have got is two dots one above the other - I cant get the box to come on any further than that

Ok I see the C14 now (der!!) it looks ok though it's just green and gold by looks - can't see anything brown on it or bulbus?

And what capacitor is it that I'd need to replace it with it its a gone.

    Hi
There will be a value written on the old capacitor which will need to be replaced with the same value (a good electrical shop will sort this for you). I would like it if sc0user came back and confirmed that the 2 dots on your display is a sign of the Cap failure before you replace it.?

Thanks jbvid. If the cap looks fine you need to use jkeys to jtag the EV as the Intel chipset has a sector lock and will not work with SkyMax, did you get the jtag kit from TMC? BTW you never said what model EV you have is it a 2006 or 2007?

    Hi and thanks sc0user,

It's a blue 2006 model. I got the kit of the bay, however I did email TMC about a kit but didn't get a reply so opted for one from the only other source I could find.

I did also try jkeys but had about as much luck there, do a delete and it seams to work, try and trite and says it is not blank -

Where do I go from here??

And how and what is a sector lock?

    @abbott
    Hi
Not sure how the one you have is wired up but wondering if the KF22's simple jtag would do the job? only 6 x 100ohm resistors, some wire and a 25pin plug no voltage line involved. Have you seen this link for EV Jtagging

Jbvid I know KF quite well we have had numerous discussions :) unfortunately his jtag will only work with a SV. Steo's info is relevant, I am a mod with him on another site so can vouch for that, but TMC's EV jtag kit is almost 100% sucessful.

Sorry lads have to leave too nervous watching the Liverpool game LOL :)

    Ok
So it looks like abbott will need the buffered one and some more good luck, Looks like he needs TMC to suit the EV?
BTW has the game finished yet?

@jbvid it ended alright in a nil all draw :(

@abbot I have seen these ones before so they should work. On your PC make sure you have the para port set to ECP, (bi-directional), with an IRQ of 378.

Connect JTAG and Power up EuroVox

    Start JKEYS

    Click on "Development Panel"
Click OK to ingore the warning.

** SEE BELOW IF YOU GET AN ERROR HERE **

If all goes well you will get into the development panel.

    In the user functions box:

    Type in the address: 80000000
    Click on "Load to . . ."

    Select the file "unlock_28FxxxC3.bin"

    Click "Trigger User"

    Close the current window.

    Click on "Flash Programming"

Choose the model number as: DXD426RD (1 Chip-GLA)

In the section on the right:

Leave the box above set to "Full"

    Click "Erase"

Select YES. This will take a minute to erase.

    Click on "Program"

Select YES to "Program at address 0x7FE00000, size 0x200000?"

    Choose your TSOP file

Sit and wait for OK to become active, then click it.

Close JKEYS and power the box down.

    Disconnect your JTAG

Power the box on. If all has gone well then it should boot up ready for you to rescan for your channels.

*** If you get an error trying to get into the devleopment windows ****

Power the box down and run SkyMax v2.2
    Power the box up
    Press start.

This seems to reset the box when JKEYS cannot connect (DCU errors).

Close SkyMax and start JKEYS and try again.

Personally I went with Skymax first and then jkeys as it seems to work better.

The Blue Tsop File can be found in Eamos FTA Library at the end of my post in the Eurovox folder.

After it has been successfully jtagged you may need to reset the scart connection by following these instructions:

    1) Connect Eurovox to TV using TV/VCR aerial connection on back of box with a coax lead.
    2) Plug Eurovox into mains and switch on.
    3) Tune in a spare channel on your TV until you see the Eurovox.
    4) You will see a request to enter a PIN – use the master PIN 1004.
    5) Enter Menu and go to ‘Config’.
    6) Go to ‘Clear Data’.
    7) Enter PIN – 1004
    8) Go to ‘Factory Default’, click OK.
    9) Click on your Symbol rate, either Symbolrate(6887 for N**, 6952 for Telepest & C&* or 6875 for Ch**us).Press OK.
    10) Click OK when the warning comes up.
    11) Exit and then load your ‘Channel File’ (You may have one, if not tell me your provider and area details and I will try to find one for you).
